A must see for any Michael Jackson fan, the man was a total genius, I'd also recommend the book "The Michael Jackson Tapes" which contains a series of interviews with Michaels confidant Rabbi Schmuley and really puts some insight into his life behind the music.

If you want to see some great rehearsal and concert footage of the King of Pop before his death this video is the one for you. If you are a true Michael Jackson fan this DVD really does a great job covering the King of Pop at his best during all of his rehearsals as well as some of the concert footage and some ads that he also made during his last moments before his death. All the footage that you see in this DVD is all of the King of Pop doing what he loved to do and that was sing as well as dance and do his choreography according to the way he would do it and also making sure that everything would be perfect and just the way he would want everything to go in his shows. And it was sad when he finally left us but this video really show Michael right before his death in his rehearsals before he went on tour but it was not meant to be. So if you want to see Michael Jackson in great rehearsal and concert footage before he passed on, By all means purchase this one, it is really great. and it truly shows him at his best.

I really enjoyed this DVD. I didn't get a chance to see it when it was on the big screen and that's why I purchased it. I especially liked the added features. One was about the costumes that had been made for him to wear. That really brought it home for me. My husband wasn't going to watch it but got sucked in and enjoyed it just as much,if not more, than I did! He really enjoyed the music. I found it interesting that they had all of the footage that they did.

Well, I'm giving it 5 stars because I am such a fan. This is actually a video about the making of the concert that did not happen. It does let you in on some of the pressures and the intense detail work involved in staging such efforts. It is not a video of a concert, and you should not expect to see a concert presented.

We purchased two systems in hopes of streamlining our walk through closet space. Like other reviewers, we found systems priced to nearly $1000. We ordered the systems through Amazon and they were promptly shipped and received. As the closet was already opened and free from other items, it only took us about 1.5 hours per side to install the products, play with the shelves and setup and make a very functional, minimalist but visually pleasing walk through closet. The parts were well marked and the instructions clear and easy to understand. We found that even with a seven foot space to work with, we had plenty of extra components from the basic system.

I'm from the UK and I've had to pre-order this in Region 1 as it doesn't look like it's going to get a release in Region 2 any time soon, so that just about proves how desperate I was for this wonderful series to get a DVD release. I will most certainly be purchasing the remaining three series as and when they are released. My purchase should arrive by April 12th, it's already been shipped, so picture me doing cart-wheels around my living room after receiving my confirmation email.

Well, it's in transit! How awesome is that!
Eagerly awaiting for it to arrive. Now I can finally retire my poor old VHS tapes from the Family Channel and Pax days of SMK. I will absolutely be ordering the next seasons when they come out - no question on that.
I'm not a big fan of buying entire dvd collections of tv series - until now. This will be the 1st one for me and I can't think of a better show than this.
Once it arrives, will probably post another good review for it - don't think there's anyway a bad one could happen unless we get a bad DVD copy.

I bought this a month ago. It says it can only be used with a very soft pillow and encourages you to use a down pillow. The down goes flat and then yuor neck is on this hard roll. When I roll over my ear hits into this roll and I wake up with an ear ache. There has got to be a better way. I also bought Treat Your Own Back a month ago. I've seen no improvement.

Purchased this neck "support" pillow after reading all the reviews about how well it works. I'm not sure if I received the same product as the folks that left positive reviews for this piece of foam, but it did not work for me. I wasted my money on a pillow that does not maintain it's shape when I lay my neck on it and my back felt worse in the morning than when I use my homemade towel neckroll. Seriously, save your money--or better yet ask a friend if you can borrow theirs....chances are they're NOT using it.

This may be a good product for some, but I can confidently say it isn't for everyone. Not only didn't it work for me as claimed but it seemed to make things worse and I stopped using it after a couple of weeks. Interestingly, the label on the container does say that this product may produce bloating and gas. Too bad the maker of this product doesn't have a smaller, trial size so you don't have to spend 30 bucks to find out it's of no use to you.

CVS stands for Chronic Vomiting Syndrome and there is actually a support group on line for this. This product was recommended as a possible preventative for CVS. At that point I had nothing to lose. This is the second time I made this purchase and I haven't had a single "episode" since taking it. I tried stopping it for a few days to see and got queazy. Needless to day, that determined my second order. I put it in my juice in the morning and there is absolutely no taste or side effects.

I bought this book because I wanted to see code that successful iPhone developers had written. I guess I was looking for "best practices" sort of information and I was hoping that I might get insight on how to tackle some problems I have run into when developing my own applications.

Book Flow

The biggest disappointment in this book is that developers wrote it (I am assuming). The book lacks the continuity you would normally find when one or two people collaborate on an entire book. When a different person writes each chapter, you get seven different styles in this book. I found a couple of the chapters very well written, but the rest I found to be, well, written by developers. I'm not saying that developers are inherently bad at writing, but it takes a certain something to relay information to other developers effectively. Most of the writers of this book just do not have it.

Code Samples

I got very frustrated reading chapters with code snippets from applications the various authors had written. If a working application had been available to provide context to the snippets, then I would have been less frustrated. For example, in Chapter 5, the first 12 pages of the chapter provide code snippets with very brief explanations of what the code is supposed to do. No working example is provided for context. I couldn't even play with the code to see what was going on. It was almost like I was expected just to know the context because I was on the team that wrote the application. The last 10 pages actually create a working sample. I would have rather spent the entire chapter creating the application with better explanations of each step and theory behind the code.

Proofreading

I wish I had a dollar for all the typos I've seen in this book. Again, in chapter 5, page 118 there is a screen shot of the application the author wrote. The caption says it's a screen shot of the application that you will be writing at the end of the chapter. Sloppy.

Conclusion

I feel like I did get some useful information from this book. Was it worth the frustration of reading poorly written text, no context for code snippets, and numerous errors? Not in my opinion.

2stars - "Poorly Written" (Christopher Morris)

I bought this after seeing the high reviews from others on this site. Unfortunately, the content doesn't quite live up to the hype for me. I got this in particular wanting more details about threading having come from the Windows world where I have implemented very robust networking applications that require UI responsiveness while results are cached in the background. I was hoping this book would shed some light on how to go about doing this in the iPhone paradigm, but the example is so rudimentary that it almost isn't even worth putting into the book. Plus, the instructions for building the app are incorrect and contain glaring omissions as well as references to code objects that don't even exist. What's worse is the code itself as listed in the book doesn't even run when built! It causes an unhandled exception due to objects created in the header file not being instantiated or initialized in the implementation file. And no where in the chapter does it say you must download the source code for the example. It walks you through it as if it has been checked and is guaranteed to work as printed. Once you download the source code, it becomes apparent how rushed or poorly thought through this portion of the book was. Whole sections of the header and implementation files are glaringly omitted from the book. Did Bennett even bother proofreading this part of the book, and if so, where were the editors in this process? It's shameful for a book that is marketed as a technical tome to increase a developer's proficiency on the platform.

I'll admit that I haven't delved into other parts of the book in great detail, but the game portion did look pretty interesting at first glance. However, the hands on experience I had with the threading chapter left a very bad first impression and does not leave me all too optimistic on either the usefulness or accuracy of the additional content in the book.

I have enjoyed this series of books from Apress, this one in particular was good for the depth it provided and the views from developers of actual products. Often when trying to solve problems it is nice to see examples from code that has been successfully used. It was a quick read and I certainly would have enjoyed having a book twice as large so that I had more examples and ideas to look through.

If you've read the other books in this series (in particular the Beginning iPhone 3 SDK book) and enjoyed it, you will probably find some value here.

Overall, a very interesting read. Each of the chapters contains very useful information that I found to be quite valuable to as up and coming iPhone developer.

When reading introductory books in any language, it is easy to learn the language elements and concepts, but it is hard to see how everything fits together. What is great about the cool projects series from Apress is being able to see the elements and concepts in practice with projects from professionals who are active in the field.

Each chapter is written by a different author, so every project covers a different experience and topic. These range from touch interfaces to streaming audio over the network. Some of the projects presented are based on the author's live applications that are currently available through the App Store. A wide range of the topics are covered in the book with practical examples of the concepts.

This book is definitely not an introduction to Cocoa or iPhone programming. It is more geared toward the intermediate reader who has learned the basics and needs practical, real-life examples. It can also be of use to a more experienced iPhone programmer who wants to explore some of the topics in the book without having to dig through the documentation.

I would highly recommend this book because it is easy to read and does not get bogged down with basic concepts. Code is provided on the book's site and is easy to follow the code with the explanations in the book. As a beginning iPhone programmer, I found this book to be a lot of help to work out some of the concepts I was having trouble with.

Made from excellent materials, this looks and feels like a high quality case. Not a LOT of room for accessories. I was basically looking for something to keep my Macbook protected and hold a few small items (like mouse, external drive, and charger) - there's not room for much else. I keep it in the case while I use it and it functions as a great platform on my lap. Very satisfied - 4 stars because I would have given the front pocket a wee bit more room to expand. Overall, I love it!

The first Munchkin product I bought was Munchkin Quest, rather than the card game. After finally getting the card game version, I've decided that both versions are completely AWESOME but each have their pro's and cons.

Time - The card game definitely takes alot less time (at least in my experience so far) and is alot easier to set up and play. While Munchkin Quest takes some time to organize and set up (as well as continously expanding the dungeon as you play), the card game you just shuffle and go.

Learning curve - The card game is also alot simplier to learn. My group still refers to the rule books while playing Munchkin Quest, trying to stay on track with monster movement and all that sort of thing. The card game is alot more straight forward.

Epic characters - Going along with the time it takes to play each game, it DOES seem that Munchkin Quest allows players to form a more epic and well equiped character. Also, the board game seems to allow for a bit more strategy.

While Quest was awesome, I love the fact that you can expand this game soo much. I've already ordered a few of the expansions. I would definitely recommend this game, although a warning, a few of the cards are a bit edgy for kids (only a few though). Hope this review helps somebody.

I initially played this game at a friend's party. I absolutely loved it! It's a little confusing to get a handle on when you're learning, but they had printed out a flow-chart from the Munchkin website that made it extremely easy to pick up on after playing a few rounds. (Having now taught this game to quite a few people, I HIGHLY recommend finding said flow-chart to make it easier on the newbies.) The game gets pretty random and crazy, but it's extremely fun and sure to get everyone laughing. Haven't bought any of the expansions, but I sure plan to!

This is a card game that resembles, while making fun of, the role playing game dungeons and dragons. The cards and artwork are hilarious. Make sure you buy Munchkin 1 before getting this expansion set. It's one of the best/only comedy games I've ever played. The game is quite challenging as there are not only a good amount of rules to learn, but each card can manipulate those rules as well. The game's strategy ranking is about 50% skill and 50% luck. This game is a good introduction to more strategy intensive games and at the same time is funny and light for people who don't want to put as much mental energy into the playing the game. I really like strategy games such as star wars cards and I like this game a lot. My wife hates complicated strategy games like star wars cards and also loves this game. One thing you should be aware of is that with 4 or more people the game has the potential to last for 2+ hrs, unlike the box listing of about an 1 hr (or 1.5 hrs depending on which edition you get). You also need something to keep track of players lives, which aren't included in the game. Small scraps of paper or pennies work or you can get more creative, you just need 10 per player.

This is an expansion pack for Munchkin. It includes a new race (orc) wich is really fun to play and adds lots of new spell and gimmicks to have even more fun with your friends. Trust me you'll love it. Why bother with pencil and paper rpgs when oyu can play it with cards. What I love about Munchkin is that my girlfriend hates Dungeons and Dragons but loves Munchkin so we can both play it. You should buy the original and this one as well. That way you can play with many more friends and have more curses to throw at them.

Munchkin, like all good comedy, makes it look easy. The game seems to be a haphazard collection of puns and silly in-jokes for gamers. But there's something else there. It plays well, has fairly balanced rules and manages to keep the competitiveness in the game even through all the laughter, right up to the last card.

This expansion walks the same tightrope, but it does work. The humor is as good as the cover implies, and if you have a group of gamers that enjoy a good laugh, you NEED to grab Munchkin and the first two expansions at least.

Afro Samurai was a worthy follow up, delving more into the internal struggles of Afro, and the reprucisions of his actions as outlined in the first season are dealt with as well. Afro's quest, almost his obsession, to obtain the No. 1 headband resulted in his loss of everyone he cared about, and in some cases his humanity. But this season shows us that his revenge will not be the only one sought, bringing some very dire consequences. I will not spoil the story, or any of the twists as they flow, but I note Afro's need to obtain the No. 1 headband this time goes beyond the mere need to avenge his father, but moves into a need to find a purpose for himself. All Afro has known is death and need to obtain the cloth with a number attached, and when the revenge has been obtained, but the headband no longer in his possession, he is unable to do anything but do what he knows.

Though the Second season may not be as well rounded as the first, its choice of delving into the deeper issues of the protaginist, and the harder morally ambigous decisions he must make make this season a definite watch. If you liked the first season, then you will find much to like in the second. Recomended.

You can always tell when I like a movie cause I actually shell out the cash to buy it. Definitely bought this one after seeing it. Much better animation than the first. The fight scenes were fantastic and reminded me of another great anime movie, "Ninja Scroll", although Ninja Scroll was slightly better. The recreation of father afro was done with great results, they made him look especially menacing. I don't know what it was, but Afro seemed a bit more sinister in this one, which is why I think a lot of reviewers here didn't give it 5 stars(though they won't admit it). This was made clearer in the scene where he killed the Samarai he had a drink with in order to get the number 2 headband. By the end however, I realized, that Afro is just a competitor by nature, a pity the sport he plays in demands that he kill in order to win.

The first Afro took 10 years to create and its awesomeness shows it. This one seems more like a hurried wannabe trying to rake in some more cash off of the name. Not to say that its not top notch animation but it feels weak and was a bit boring at times. I wish I would have rented this instead of buying it.

First Off I would like to say I have never actually seen the King Kong movie. I found this game at a garage sale for $2.00. The game layed around the house for the better part of a year before I got really bored one day and decided to try it out.

To sum it all up quickly. Its a very good kid's- early teen game. The graphics are nice and the storyline keeps you intrested. I beat the game in less than 7 hours and felt satisfied. Its not to long or to short. I would reccomend this game to anyone looking for some cheap Playstation 2 titles for kids.

Peter Jackson's King Kong: The Official Game of the Movie is a great game full of action. The game has similarities to the film and yet it addes even more to it. This is what movie-tie-in games need to be like all the time!

For 60% of the game, you will play Jack Driscoll and 40% of the game you will play the mighty gorilla-god King Kong. When playing Jack, you must try to survive Skull Island and its monstrous creatures while coming close to death! But when you become Kong... the tables turn in a hurry! You can kill swat smaller creatures, crush the life out of or rip apart V-Rexes with Kong's immense strength!

All of this and protecting the lovely Ann Darrow as well. Be on the look out for Kong: King of Skull Island, which is supposed to hit theaters this 2009. It is the prequel to the original 1933 film. Maybe we will get a great game based on this King King movie as well. We can only hope.

Anyways, buy this game. It has great action, a great story, and great bonous features as well! Including an awesome Alternate Ending! So what are you waiting for?! Buy this game! Trust me, you'll enjoy it!

I personally enjoyed a lot this game. I especially liked fighting the V-Rexes as Kong. I liked the many creatures and environments that were portrayed. My only complaint its that it is either to easy or to short. I was able to finish the whole game in a week although I need to unlock a few extras with an online code that I do not know. Enjoyed this game and hope somebody who knows those codes to reply back.

5stars - "KING KONG"

King Kong is one of the best games I have ever played. There are several reviews that say it is hard to follow and it is easy to get lost. There is only one possible path that you can take in every level. I find that when you are separated from your party, go to the start of the level!
The gameplay is great and the graphics are pretty good. Ubisoft gives you the feeling that you are stranded on a dinosaur infested island. Several times when you are on your own, you hear a raptor snarl from the bushes on your left. Or the right? The sound in this game really adds to the game overall.
Later in the game, you are able to play as Kong. This is where I have a few problems. The graphics begin to fall apart if the camera happens to get close to a native's face. And you do not get to play as Kong as much as I would have liked. Overall this game is fun the first time and has great replay value. Once replayed correctly, you can save Kong!

for some reason the creators of the game decided to follow a completely differant storyline than the movie, so i dont know why its called the official game.
this game is highly addictive but one downside is, kong suck. i know, i know how could i say kong sucks, its not him its the way the gamemakers made his controls and graphics, thats why he sucks.
all in all, great game, but dread becoming kong.

I found a copy of this game at a brick & mortal store going for $10 and since I have a spare computer system which I could install and play it on without having to worry about the "StarForce" malware, I gave this game a try. Given all the negative feedback of the past year, and UBISOFT's agreeing not to use the 'StarForce' malware copy protection sceme going forward, I was surprised that they still haven't released a patch to resolve the problem for this game. In fact it looks like UBISOFT has abandonned any ongoing support of this game.

As for game play? It sucks. Not only are the graphics cutting edge for the end of the 20th century, the game play is very linear and if that weren't bad enough other characters in the game are constantly telling you what to do anyhow. Further, appearing as a 1st person shooter, the game has some sections that can only be completed as 3rd person and parts of the game have continuous strobing type flashes which aren't safe for some people with seizure disorders.

I was originally interested in this game because of UBISOFT's FarCry release. But after dealing with this game, it's clear that CryTek is soley responcible for FarCry's excellence. Hopefully, CryTek will find a new distributor for their 'Crysis' upcoming release...

There's actually not much of a game in this one. It's basically a play-through-story in a lot of cases, and the entire game feels like it's on a rail. This is especially true of the kong levels..which are pretty much just narrow lanes to jump through with a small boss arena at the end.

This almost gives the game an arcade feeling--with the camera scripted to react differently almost every single second of a kong level.

The Jack levels are a lot better, and in most cases are actually fun. The game is still linear, but the game does fall back on open-spaces-then-chokepoint-then-another-openspace design principles, which can get old.

Still, there's a real nice beauty about kong. If you've seen the movie, you know how 'moody' Jackson strove to make Skull island--the gray wall, the dense jungle, the thick swarms of insects--it all translates VERY well. Constant rainstorms, the roll of thunder, the maze of corridors atop the wall, the alley of dinosaurs to dodge and run through, the bleak, dense, and dangerous swamps...though it's a linear ride, it's a very very pretty one--worth the budget price even in my opinion.

5stars - "MLB Vintage World Series Films Champion Seasons 1943-2000" (Sherri Robbins)

I am a huge fan of the New York Yankees. I remember watching every single inning of the World Series in 1996, 1998, 1999, and 2000 but wasn't born for any of the prior ones. That's what makes this collection so great, I can relive the favorite moments I was around for and see for the first time the highlights that I wasn't around for. The four most recent championships are absolutely fantastic and I could watch them over and over. The earlier ones are great because you get to watch the Yankees win the world series but the presentation isn't as good. The narration is a little boring and the footage is a little grainy so it makes the older World Series a little less cinematic. Diehard Yankee fans like myself don't need that sort of thing because the footage and the games speak for themselves but a casual fan might find them boring. This is definitely a great gift idea, I probably would have asked for it had I not already purchased it for myself!

I got Aviators of two different kinds to check out and see who the best were, these weren't them.

These (G&G Chrome Metal Silver Mirrored Aviator Sunglasses 3 Pair Special Spring Hinges) are much better. The spring hinges seem to add the the firmness of the frame, and they look better too.

so i wasn't expecting anything too nice because it was only $5 including shipping but also because some of the reviews weren't so great and said they were really bad quality. well i got them and i was so surprised because they feel nice and solid and really just have no flaws. the mirror is really good. the "premium microfiber bag" isn't anything that fancy but its better than nothing. i would definitely recommend these.

This is a cute glove. I ordered them for my 14 year old daughter and her friend for their school talent show. They did a dance mix to Michael Jackson songs so the glove finished off the look. Great for the price and I received it very quickly. I just wished it was a little more glittery looking under the stage lights.. but the girls loved them. The glove is light weight and made of a thinner cotton and the size will fit older kids early teens to adult.

I recently purchased 12 gloves for my daughters' birthday party, to give as favors for a Michael Jackson themed birthday. The gloves came quickly and were of good quality. The kids loved the gloves in their favor bags. I really appreciated that the gloves were made from rhinestones and not sparkly glitter that would flake off everywhere on the children's clothes and in my house. However, the shipping per glove costs almost as much as each glove. I paid almost $60 for the gloves and almost $54 for standard shipping. I almost did not buy this because of the outrageous cost of shipping. In good faith I purchased it, thinking it possible the seller would reduce the shipping costs for this order, so as to not take advantage of the customer. This item arrived by the date specified. It does not look like the picture and is quite thin. It began to fray in and come apart on the thumb and fingers within several days and my son only wore it once in awhile. It is pretty poor quality. 5stars - "Percy Jackson and the Olympians Paperback Boxed Set (Books 1-3)" (irma capestany)

I'm 18 years old and I must say this is a great book. I, like most other older people who read this book, are big Harry Potter fans, hoping to fill that void. This book will do the trick. (Also, on another note, this review will be comparing the two books, as Harry Potter is the main reason I bought this book).

It's an easy read. I'd say about 7th grade reading level at the most. And it doesn't take that long to finish. I just read books 1-3 today and I jut got it about 8 hours ago. I'm not waiting on the 4th and 5th in the mail (what a long 2 days it will be!!!).

The book is definitely a more modern Harry Potter, even though Harry Potter was set around the same times. I think the modern twist gives it a true spark. It's fun because you can relate more the the characters.

The characters are also well developed. Perhaps not as much as Harry was by the 3rd book, but I think it's because we're only with Percy for short periods of times. It's cool though because you're not missing too much in between those times, and Percy doesn't drastically change in between books.

The other characters are kind of lacking as far as character development. I'd say, for as much as we see Grover in the 1st book and you get attached, he's barely their in the 2nd. The same for Tyson in the 2nd who was only mentioned in the 3rd book.

Besides those flaws, this is a great adventure book for those who liked Harry Potter. However, unlike Harry Potter which was developed for adults initially, this book is clearly for kids. However, I think if you're a younger adult (16-29) you should enjoy this book! I'm literally jittery for the next 2 books.

I bought the 3-book set because the first two books in the series were being passed around by my students so much, they were getting pretty dog-eared--and (verbal) fights were breaking out about who got what book next. (These are high school kids.) As a teacher whose heart goes out to learning-challenged kids, I have to appreciate the fact that Percy Jackson, the protagonist, has ADHD and dyslexia--issues that only enhance his heroics, not detract from them. The books are easy and engrossing, with plenty of sword brandishing and sarcasm, so they keep teens reading. There are, of course, mini lessons on Greek mythology throughout the books (often as the ever-valiant heroes are being attached once again by another fury or hydra or what-have-you), so I appreciate that, too.

I stop just short of a five-star rating here as I have read as far as Book Four and I would have liked to see Riordan be a bit more creative with his plot devices. The fourth book opens with Percy beginning school at yet another new school and this time it's the cheerleaders who are not what they seem to be, but that's only slightly different from how the other books open. Some situations have been used so repeatedly that I've begun to predict how our heroes will be backed into a corner with no way out this time--and who will save them.

Overall, though, I think this is a great series for young folks.

I will admit that I only became aware and interested in this series when the ads for The Lightning Thief movie came out. I read the books and I thoroughly enjoyed them all, including the Last Olympian. It was a fitting end to a great series.

5stars - "Most awesome book EVER ! ! !"

Hailed as the second coming of Harry Potter, demigod Percy Jackson and his gang of Greek myth sidekicks has now splashed onto the silver screen. I haven't seen the movie yet, but I have read all five books of the series, including the final one, The Last Olympian.

Like the profitable Potter series, each book features an adolescent hero battling the forces of evil with magic. Numerous battle scenes, a splash of romance, hair-raising scrapes with monsters, prophecies, clueless adults as well as adults who seem to get it--these are the market-tested elements found in both series.

Percy Jackson seems aimed at slightly younger audience than Potter, and is also not quite as long and involved. Author Rick Riordan employs breezy American dialog and cultural landmarks, and his scenes are less dense and complex than Rowling's. By and large, the prose is snappier and flows better--Riordan was a published mystery writer before taking up Percy, and it shows.

Up until The Last Olympian, that is. Alas, Riordan falls under the WOW (World of Warcraft) syndrome--where a battle scene gets stretched out for page after page, with made-for-CGI monster after monster getting dusted (literally) to the point of boredom. The problem, from my point of view, is that after too many impossible escapes, protected by his Achilles-like invulnerability granted by a dip in the River Styx, Percy's actions get repetitive. Yawn.

There's killing and mayhem, but it all seems so sanitized: war as an adventure park, not a bloody mess. Thus instead of bleeding, monsters simply disintegrate. This is done to placate the parents of younger children, but it detracts from the story. Another example of this is when a bunch of satyrs show up in Manhattan, and in order to get psyched up for battle they drink root beer. Please.

Riordan does gets high marks for appealing sidekicks Grover the Satyr and Tyson the Cyclops, as well as an off-again, on-again romance between Percy, son of Poseidon, and Annabeth, daughter of Athena. He is quite clever at using various elements of Greek mythology throughout, although I notice that the chthonic gods Dionysus, Demeter, and Persephone are vastly toned down and, in the case of Demeter and Persephone in particular, flat as cardboard. I suppose the darker elements of Greek myths--and there are plenty--need to be tamed for younger readers, but it leaves an unappealing taste in my mouth.

Another other thing that bugs me about the series is the American hubris factor. The idea that the Greek gods decided to abandon Greece (and, apparently, other countries as well) for the cultural wellsprings of the U.S. strikes me as preposterous. I'm convinced that he put Olympus, the seat of their power, over Manhattan as a selling point to the New York publishing industry. Whereas the evil Titans based their headquarters on Mount Tam near SF. Come on, Rick, you can do better than that! (Spoken as a Bay Area resident, here.)

Oh, and then there's the ridiculous notion that a summer camp of teenagers is capable of holding off the forces of evil and saving the world--it's like, instead of bombing Pearl Harbor, the Japanese bombed a high school in Hawaii. While Percy and the other heroes battle the bad guys, the gods conveniently abandon Manhattan to the teens in order to merely slow down a humongous monster halfway across the country disguised as series of superstorms. Meanwhile, the muggles have no clue why New York is totally trashed.

Muggles? Drat. I meant mortals.

Finally, since this is the last book in the series, how successfully does Riordan tie up the loose plot ends? Mixed marks here. The love triangle between Percy, Annabath, and a mortal with special powers named Rachel Elizabeth Dare gets resolved nicely. The crux of the story--how the evil Titan Lord Kronos is defeated--is a bit trickier. It all has to do with a Big Prophecy and how Luke, a former camper and son of Hermes, became possessed by Kronos. It gets a bit philosophical near the end, kind of a nice contrast to the oodles of monster dust all over Manhattan. I was a little confused and I'm not sure I buy it all, but I did care about the main characters at the end, so Riordan must have done something right.

At the end of the book he refers to this as the "first" Percy Jackson series, and the author says he's working on a new one. I probably won't read it, unless he leaves the root beer and monster dust behind.

I had already loved the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series, and this forth installment just makes make love it even more!

It is once again filled with Riordan's fabulous writing. It amazes me in every book in this series how well he captures the voice of a young teen boy. Percy is such a lovable character. His sense of humor always gets me on his side everytime. In this installment we see our favorite heroes going on a quest inside the labyrinth, an underground maze that is never as it seems. The quest is lead by Annabeth this time. Annabeth had some hard decisions to make. She really had to grow up alot in this book, all the characters did really. Grover continues on his quest for the lost god Pan. I really enjoyed having Tyson back. Him and Percy are great together. I was pleasantly surprised to see Rachel back. I love how Riordan ties each story together and how each character he adds has a purpose. I have to say my favorite part of this one was watching Nico's character development. I am such a sucker for the angsty characters.

I thought the Titan's Curse was action packed, but this one far out did it. Every chapter held an exciting scene that made it impossible to not jump into the next one. We meet some new gods and some new seriously freaky monsters on this journey. I have to admit that I teared up at a few parts, especially in the ending. Alot of the suspense is over at the end, but you are still left with some cliffhangers. Some of the outcomes were easy for me to decipher, but some of them seriously shocked me. I almost don't want to read the next book in the series because it is the last. I just don't want to let these characters go yet! I want to say so much more, but I would just be giving away spoilers if I did. Percy Jackson and the Olympians continues to be one of my favorite series. If you haven't started this series yet, do so ASAP!

At Camp Half-Blood, Quintus has substituted for Mr. D. Percy and Annabeth team up in a new game. They find an entrance to the Labyrinth, and they start a quest along with Grover and Tyson. They make it to Triple G ranch and see Nico. Percy defeats Geryon and continues the quest, but Nico wants his sister back to life. Soon, they split up, but Percy almost gets himself killed. He meets Calypso, but can't stay with her. Percy gets Rachel to lead them since she can see through the mist. They meet up with Nico again, and find Luke's body for Kronos to reform. They return to camp for battle with Grover and Tyson after they find Pan. Grover causes a Panic to stop the whole thing and continues the quest in the next book.

I liked this book because it had some funny parts. Percy's adventures continue in The Last Olympian.

The battle of the labyrinth
Two demigod friends Percy and Annabeth, one satyr Grover, and one Cyclopes Tyson set out for a dangerous quest to the labyrinth. Once in the maze they will have to face difficult challenges from fighting monsters to being on a game show hosted by a monster.

I think it had a great story line and a lot of action and humor. I liked the main battle scene at the end. I think he did a good job following Greek mythology like using the real Greek monsters like the Minotaur.
