Great that there coming out with Tombstone but they should have put both versions on the disc. And lets hope that the transfer is good. Or we will have another Gangs of New York or Gladiator issue. I hope these company's will be good enough to release a great looking movie before they throw it on the shelves. Hell I know they just want money thats why they release the barebones or crap version first. Then wait 3 months and release what everyone wanted. DVD did it why not Blu-ray I guess.

This is a movie I've enjoyed numerous times and will look forward to adding it to my BD Collection - it's truly deserving of Blu Ray treatment.

The casts blends so well and it blows away the Westerns I viewed growing up. Historically they likely weren't so cool and attractive in reality but they do a job of matching what our minds may have perceived who these folks were in the Wild West. There's a little bit of everything in this film.

It's sad that a Amazon Reviewer comes into Amazon and trashes a movie because it's not a Directors Cut. Considering the age of the film now perhaps they had no DC as all the extra content has become expanded with BD capability but he should never have trashed the film because he didn't favor the type of cut - one has nothing to do with the other - if it's not the version you want don't buy it but trashing it with your rating is childish and selfish at best! Others take heed where reviewers abuse their responsibility in posting ratings and his is an abuse of that privilege!

If you want to see a movie with loud action, awesome special effects and pure destruction (even though it's content is absurd) this is the movie for you. I might warn you, there are some real cheesy scenes that might make your eyes bleed.

I am no astronaut, nor do I work for NASA or even worse ever read a book about space, and yet I found load of things when I saw this in the movies 12 years ago that it was impossible for it to happen, but yet since it is for entertainment purposes I tried not to care much for it. The asteroid shower being all of a sudden unexpected in the beginning of the film can be an insult to moviegoers IQ and the fact that you have to drill in a huge asteroid -supposedly the size of Texas- a warhead in order to destroy `the bitch' might be as well too fiction, but in the long run it is a typical blockbuster film and not a documentary from the Discovery Channel.

Filled with a fun cast and special effects that are still fresh `til this date, Armageddon might be the movie you need to watch whenever you want to see a movie that contains any of the following items from my first sentence. The writers of the movie are the ones to blame for the illogical sequences mention (and those are just a few) but I found the directing by Michael Bay quite impressive.

3stars - "One of the most entertaining fables" (Carlos Donoso Kronfle)

This movie epitomizes the literary phrase "Suspension of Disbelief", which means absolutely preposterous. That doesn't always mean terrible. This movie has one of the craziest and most implausible plot points in movie history. They get great actors to sound excited about the perils and pitfalls of drilling into the hardest metal imaginable on an asteroid headed for earth. The U.S. Space Shuttles can barely reenter our own atmosphere without pieces falling off of it. YET, they manage to land on an asteroid that makes Moab in Utah look like a safe haven for supersonic touchdowns. I'm going to ask my physics professor buddy about the actual effects of explosions or A-bomb explosions in an atmosphere of no oxygen.

This was my number #2 bad movie of all time until I rented a wacky space drama with NO movie stars at the Red Box machine, and the previous renter even wrote "This is the worst movie ever" right on the disc, it was. This movie entry gets knocked down to a tie with Day After Tomorrow as the third worst ever. Without really good actors here, I guarantee you that no one would ever have given Armageddon more than one star. It is ONLY star driven, and NOT a plot driven movie. If you call it a popcorn movie deluxe, better add in plenty of cocktails with that buttery treat, and a good nap before it is over. Reviewers and fans hate giving movies bad reviews that have good actors being caught in bad movies, because they have done good or great movies. Billy Bob, Willis, Buscemi, Duncan, and more stars, have made classic movies in their own right.

The number three worst ever, I'm watching it right now, until something better falls on my head, Day After Tomorrow. Fun scenes of diaster in 5.1 sound, but ridiculously unbelieveable. You ask, what is the worst, The Core. Same scenario, great actors doing scenes that you couldn't dream up in a million years. In fact, you can't give any movie a "NO STARS" review at Amazon, and Armageddon deserves it too. The sequel to Armageddon could be called, Moon Apocalypse; One Million Nukes! AND starring Russel Crowe so someone will buy a ticket. LOL.

1stars - "TOP 10 WORST EVER!" (Movieskinny)

Again - don't let the movie snobs fool you; this is a really good flick. I am excited to see (and hear) this on Blu-Ray. Armageddon is easily this is one of the best action flicks of the 1990's and will take any viewer back decades to old science fiction stories of the 1950's and 60's found in movies and comics. It really is traditional story telling in its purest form. It contains the perfect mix of humor, action and suspense. Is this film deserving of an Academy Award? Well, no...but it is a good flick for a boring Friday or Saturday night! Enjoy...

This is the perfect popcorn movie.

The action, the humor, and yes, the emotion. When Liv Tyler cries towards the end, she at that one time enters into the ranks of film's most striking beauties.

Yes, the movie is cheesy, but I don't always feel like "Dinner with Andre" as a way to relax.

One of the reasons the film is hated by the snob elite is because it's a very Patriotic film. And lord knows, you can be chic and think anything about the flag or being a hero is good.

Again, most likely you have seen the movie. Go ahead and add it to your library and don't worry about what one of your pretend critic friends might say about you owning it.

Just because we're all doomed doesn't mean you still can't laugh. I think that's the best way to describe Bruce's 1998 action-blockbuster epic picture, "Armageddon." And that makes it so much more unique and fun to watch because no other end-of-the-world movie takes themselves less seriously than this one. I hate watching a movie and being preached at (like "2012" did.) Instead, "Armageddon" removes itself from the equation and the producers, writers and director were all intelligent enough to realize that this is a movie, and people want to be entertained.

Bruce plays Harry, an oil driller who is recruited by NASA to go into outer space to save the world from destruction. Bruce played this role as he did any of his other signature characters with perfection and precision. Even though he wasn't in every scene (there is a very long list of very talented actors in this, including Ben Affleck) his presence could always be felt. And in the scenes that Bruce was in he almost stepped back and let the others take control, his larger than life persona did not overtake any of the other cast members. Only a very generous and humbled man could accomplish such an endeavor. But like they say, slow and steady always wins the race.

Once Harry tells the NASA head (Billy Bob Thornton) that he needs his team to get the job done the fun in inner space really starts. His entire team (everyone from Steve Buscemi to Michael Clarke Duncan) were all hysterical. The story was so ludicrous and implausible that you just have to laugh at it.

If you enjoy sci-fi, astronomy or just Bruce Willis than this movie is for you.

What a nice surprise discovering this sci-fi gem in our video-shop, fully and masterfully restored.

I saw this movie, starring a VERY young Bruce Willis, with my father in the early eighties.

Being totally freaked out by the movie, my first sci-fi experience at the age of 10 years, I remember my father saying: "You just watch that youngster Bruce Willis -- one day he will be a super star. (Little did I know...)

Only today, almost 30 years later, I can really appreciate the scientific insight the producers showed at the time:

1. Most of the vehicles in the movie resembles 2006+ models -- its almost scary that the futuristic cars that impressed me so much as a kid, turned out to be spot-on in their design.

2. Look out when a memory stick is used with the computers -- what an amazing insight of the designers who did the graphics.

3. Kudos to the make-up-artists who 'aged' Bruce Willis so masterfully that even this Die-Hard-fan cannot tell the difference between the 'aged' Bruce and the present-day-Bruce.

I am just gratefull that the Secrete Weapon to kill off the surrogates, only materialized as a Taser in real life! -- but again, what an insight the writer had into the future.

This movie is a must have in any sci-fi-collection.

5stars - "Surrogates" (Charles J. Solar)

Surrogates, starring Bruce Willis, is a Sci-Fi flick that has a whole new take on robots. Once again, I am going to complain about all the critics and so-called critics out there who like to demolish movies like this. Here's the scoop:

It's obvious, and we have known for a while now, that Hollywood is running out of ideas. Book authors, it seems, aren't, but movie writers are. Why? I have no idea, whatsoever. What I do know is that sequel after sequel after sequel after remake after remake after remake are coming from that star-infested little town by the City of Angels. Now it seems that when anything comes out of there with a sense of freshness and newness, its shot down by critics like the plague. Case in point...Surrogates. An original idea presented in an original way by a VERY good cast, but since its not another remake or a sequel, it has been bashed up one side and down the other...over and over and over again.

C'mon, people. If we are so lucky to experience a NEW idea for a change, then give it the kudos it deserves! This movie wasn't five-star material--it could have been, I think, if it would have delved just a bit deeper into the psyche of the people living their lives as surrogates as opposed to experiencing life first hand--but it was definitely four-star, and this is why:

1. Excellent casting
2. Excellent acting - made you almost believe that the surrogates were, indeed, surrogates
3. Excellent directing - Bruce looked so severely out of place in his own skin amongst the populace of surrogates (great job with this)
4. Original story
5. Atmospheric, almost to a claustrophobic degree
6. Awesome production value

Surrogates strikes me as a another sci-fi actioner with a very good concept on how society as a whole is becoming more and more reliant on the uses of advancing technology. Why worry about actually exercising when all you have to do is transfer your brain waves into a life-like robot that's designed to look the way you want it? The approach to Surrogance in itself makes for some great reflections on sloth and vanity and how we've become so enamored with what's "ideal," as apparent by the setting and plot. But when moral dilemmas about the artificiality of life start surfacing, all sorts of friction can start to develop, which is essentially the kind of issues the film tries to discuss. However, with only an 88 minute run time the movie feels way too short and never really addresses the complexities as elaborately as it could. The screenplay also suffers from lack of development for Bruce Willis' character and never really has enough of a buildup to make said complexities feel as wholly riveting like, say, the more recent I,Robot. On the flip side, though, the movie still makes for decent entertainment with what it ends up being and only disappoints with its missed potential. This is the first Jonathan Mostow film I've seen at this point, so I didn't really know what to expect, but I have seen quite a few Bruce Willis movies and am happy with his continuing effort and exceptional acting ability for that "rugged, yet vulnerable kind of guy" archetype. James Cromwell doesn't play very big roles, but I've been a fan of his for a while and have always enjoyed his quaint and father-like subtlety as well. I also like Ving Rames, but seeing him with dreadlocks feels kind of silly. Good effort by Mostow.

Video - 4.0

Presented by Disney/Buena Vista in 1080p via the MPEG-4 AVC codec at an original aspect ratio of 2.35:1 (framed at 2.40) Surrogates looks good. I only say good because a big factor in reflecting the artificiality of Surrogance is the very smudgy skin textures present in about 90% of the people in the movie. Some could say it's an accurate transfer as per aesthetic intention, but it still feels like looking at a bunch of faces that were heavily DNR'd. Aside from that, though, everything else looks great. Colors are vibrant, if not a tad muted at times to coincide with the dystopic feel of the art direction. Black levels are inky, contrast is accurate, and detail is excellent on actual people not using Surrogates. Check out Willis' stubble when he's walking out and about.

Audio - 5.0

Unlike the somewhat underwhelming video presentation, the DTS-HD 5.1 track has no oddities in it whatsoever. Much of the film in the beginning is very dialogue-driven, but when action sequences start weaving themselves into the plot, sound effects really boom. Side speakers do an outstanding job moving the on-screen action from one side of the room to the other. High and low ends are accurate when need be and the music never feels overpowering. LFEs, however are the real treat. Gunshots, helicopters, and car crashes dominate the sound stage and really give your sub-woofer a workout adding a great sense of depth and realism to progressing urgency of the plot. There aren't a whole lot of action big sequences, unfortunately, but when there are they're reference material.

Extras - 2.5

Aside from the informative commentary by Mostow, the extra features don't amount to much else. In fact, I'd even say I'm a little angry at the main vignette and how it almost totally defeats the purpose of the movie. The "Science of Surrogates" feature spends nearly all of its time addressing real-world applications and the benefits of using technology to such an advanced level that we will inevitably develop and take advantage of it to the fullest. But for a film that just did the opposite and showed the disadvantages of such ideology, it boggles my mind why they'd suddenly contradict the entire point of the story and pretty much shrug it off at the end by saying "well, there ARE disadvantages, too [fade out]...," which serves as another example of how the overall project just doesn't live up to its potential. The other features are a short look at the original graphic novel that the movie is based on, deleted scenes, and a music video by Breaking Benjamin (in HD and DD 5.1!) for the song "I Will Not Bow."

Overall - 3.5

Of all the genres out there, I'd have to say science fiction is probably my favorite. It allows for so many questions to be asked and is also very easy for us to relate to today and as we advance further into the future. Surrogates has a very intriguing concept that possessed a lot of potential, but in the end feels exceedingly underwhelming with barely an hour and a half to explore the complexities and dilemmas mentioned in the film. But if you're in the mood for a quick-paced, sci-fi action thriller and are a fan of Bruce Willis, Surrogates may just provide enough with its presentable video and reference audio to make this a worthy addition to your collection. Viewers wanting a little more depth, though, would be wise to give this a rent first.

Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull
It would seem that Indiana Jones is what most men want to be; brave, heroic smart, and adventurous. But can a movie that has had a nineteen year gap between its third and fourth film be as successful as its earlier films? Can the magic of the first few films be recaptured since its star, Harrison Ford, is now older and movie making has changed so much? I think they did a great job recapturing the movies and adding new features into the movie but still remaining true to the original three films.

If I had to rank all four of the Indiana Jones movies I would have to say that this one would be my third favorite after The Raiders of the Lost Arc and The Last Crusade. The first and third movies seemed to have an underlining view that God did exist and that it was more of a search for God. I was disappointed to see that The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull took on a theme more like The Temple of Doom. The Raiders of the Lost Arc and The Last Crusade had a sense of reality to them that made the story believable and the scene with the aliens takes away that reality. It was nice to see that the writing was creative but still seemed like the original movies.

I liked the one quote that Cate Blanchett said to Harrison Ford "Belief, Dr. Jones, is a gift you have yet to receive. My sympathies." Jones responded by saying "Oh, I believe, sister. That's why I'm down here" This made me think of the Old Testament phrase "Fear of the Lord." It seemed that Jones had a proper fear of this unknown power. When ever people entered into the presences of God they were very fearful which seems much more relevant to the situation. I was just surprised when she said that it was disbelief when I thought it was clear that it was a time to be nervous.

I loved this quote from the movie because it is often time something that I think applies to us today. Jones is trying to warn Spalko to "Be careful, you may get exactly what you wish for" and she responds by saying "I usually do." I feel that this is very true sometimes we want something but its not something that we should be desiring. It made me think of a child who is having a temper tantrum because they want to have a new toy. You don't give into them and you might even have to punish the child for they way they are acting. I personally feel that Jones is right in this quote, we should not have everything we want. I was surprised to hear that quote since we live in a society where we feel as though we should have whatever we want.

Over all I thought that this was a very good and imaginative movie that kept very true to the first three movies. All of the action scenes were just as good as they were in the past movies. Even though some of the scenes were unrealistic, such as the sword fight that took place on the back to two cars or swinging from tree to tree to catch up with the racing cars, it was still very entertaining. I also thought the ending was very appropriate since it was almost like a passing of the torch. Overall I would say that this was a very good addition to the Indiana Jones movies.

I saw Indiana Jones 4. Here is what you need to do if you want to enjoy the movie:

1. Assume that working with supernatural forces for all these years has made Indy sturdy enough to do things no other 66 year old man could do and not need an ambulance immediately after.
2. Forget you saw any of the other films.

Basically, the special effects were cool and Spielberg's direction was on par. The actors were there for the show. It's the script that sucked. The movie largely rehashed scenes from other Indy movies and the ending ... oh what a travesty. The other movies in the series tended to have lots of humor but they took the main plot arch seriously and had some small nod to realism. I can only describe the ending of Indy 4 as "goofy." It really didn't seem to fit. Maybe it was a case of "where do we go after finding the Ark of the Covenant and the Holy Grail?" There was another scene near the beginning that seemed straight out of a Looney Tunes cartoon.

Recently I re-watched Indy 3 in high definition. It is so superior that I would say it's not even in the same league as Indy 4. How could the same guy have written both films? Clearly Lucas has been replaced by some alien hack writer.

Verdict: Give it a watch if you have some time to kill and are really bored. This movie is Iron Man's bitch.

As someone who was an adult when RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK was released, I don't have the problem with this film that many of the "haters" have. It's certainly better on the whole than LAST CRUSADE was, which suffered from a lackluster first half, in my opinion. KOTCS is a fun romp through Eisenhower-era America, as Indy tracks down the truth behind the legend of "ancient astronauts."

As someone who was an adult when RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK was released, I don't have the problem with this film that many of the "haters" have. It's certainly better on the whole than LAST CRUSADE was, which suffered from a lackluster first half, in my opinion. KOTCS is a fun romp through Eisenhower-era America, as Indy tracks down the truth behind the legend of "ancient astronauts."

Has it really been 10 years since the matrix brought new meaning to my life? Even without the blu-ray and special features, any serious movie collector should have a copy, the current format makes it all the more worthwhile.

This Blu-Ray is a Chinese import from Hong Kong. There may be nothing wrong with it, but Amazon really should make that clear in their listing. There is no USA Blu-Ray release of this film. Nor will there be any time soon, as Miramax has gone under. If you want to be guaranteed the best import version currently avaialble, track down the Danish import. It's Region Free, and the audio/video are outstanding.

What can I say my stoner ex-girlfriend made me watch this movie. It nearly had me in tears when I was an hour in and realized that there was still 2 more to go. I'm lucky I keep my hair short because by time I got down to the last 30 minutes I wanted to rip my hair out. It was the most boring piece of crap I have ever watched. With one exception if you are a stoner you'll love this movie blazed because I assume that when you are flying high you just don't care how truly terrible this movie really is.

I have this VHS edition and when I had purchased the DVD special edition, thought I was getting the same thing. But, not so...contrary to the specs. listed by Amazon for this VHS, the running time is actually 164 minutes (not 154). It evidently is the ONLY edition which is that long as it includes the 10 minutes of extended scenes. None of the DVD versions available include those extended (deleted) scenes. They all run only 154 minutes.

Update: Amazon has corrected the runtime on this item page as I had recommended. This VHS special collector's edition is the only version that includes the added 10 minutes of extended scenes in the movie.

Pulp Fiction is inspired by the old novels of the same name. The characters in the movie remind you of the 1930's -40's cheap crime novels full of familiar characters like boxers willing to throw a fight, mob bosses, calculating wives and bank robbers like Bonnie and Clyde. Tarantino is the director and must have tongue in cheek throughout!

Pulp Fiction is set in Hollywood in the 1990's and combines three stories that focus on two characters. The first story is about Vincent Vega (John Travolta) and Jules Winnfield (Samuel L. Jackson). Jules quotes Ezekiel 25:17 to his victims before blasting them. Jules and Vincent are two hit men that work for Marsellus Wallace (Ving Rhames). Marsellus has a beautiful wife, Mia (Uma Thurman). Marsellus wants Vincent to entertain his wife and takes her out to a 1950's themed restaurant. She takes a liking to Vincent, and is also a drug addict. She overdoses and the scrambling and the scenes scrambling saving her from death are hilarious. The second story is about a boxer who is asked to throw a fight (Bruce Willis) by the big boss Marsellus. He decides to make money himself by doing the opposite and wins the fight, killing his opponent in an early round. The third story is about a pair of lovers (Amanda Plummer and Tim Roth) who discuss a career change from robbing banks to holding up a diner. They decide a diner is easier and more money.

There is also an interesting character named Wolf (Keitel). He is a mobster cleanup man who instructs on how to do the job.

The film's stories weave in and out, there is a lot of dialogue that is mesmerizing. Talk about Big Mac's in Paris and why someone was killed because he massaged the feet of big boss's wife, Mia. Sometimes the dialogue goes so long you know it is on purpose - like a rhythmic "riff" to the ears - The movie is original and bright though the theme is dark in the noir way.

There are lengthy scenes presented out of sequence. I don't know how the movie is held together unless the a feeling of the playfulness of the actors as they enjoy their characters.

The final scene brings the movie together - ties it in a neat little package.

Not a typical sci-fi flick. This one has great characters that I love to watch over and over. Okay, the world is nearly destroyed by aliens. But, add a mix of a great cast and a great story, and you have a great movie.

The first time I watched this movie was back in 1997-1998. My first thought was, "wow what a good movie!" All the explosion and the excitement makes this movie even more captivating. Will Smith did o.k. in this movie however I feel there was a lack of acting/ effort put out from this man. There was a lot of potentials. A quarter through the movie was interesting because viewers wonder what the humans will do to save themselves from alien destruction. From half way to the end of the movie, it was mostly humans vs. aliens, good vs. bad. All the major countries come together as allies to fight terror from out of space. It gave you a nice feeling of patriotism, not for one's country but for mankind. I wouldn't say this is the best Will Smith film, but it's a fun film to check out.

Astroboy is an interesting movie. I went and saw this movie a few days after it released in theatres. I kinda remember the cartoon as a kid and this helped to relive those memories. Astroboy is a robot that has superpowers and uses them to save people and the world.

Astroboy is a character that dates back to the 1950's when it was created by Osamu Tezuka. Astro is really well known in Japan and there were several of the cartoon series came here to the United States.

The movie follows the story pretty well but at the same time adds a few new things here and there to not just be a copy and paste kind of story.

There are some spoilers ahead:.......

In the manga (or comic) and now Movie is a boy named Toby who dies in an accident and his father Dr. Tenma builds a robot to be just like Toby. The scene may scare some children that are really young but personally they did it tastefully and there are no gory scenes or anything. (For the parents you see a bright flash and his hat is lying on the ground). Alot of parents were upset by this however many movies made by Disney and so forth have had characters die in their movies constantly but people still praise them.

I suppose since it is a young boy they feel that it should not occur but the producers of the film wanted to keep the orgin of Astro as close as possible.

The movie was pretty well done. There's some drama in along with action and that was pretty good. It helped lead into the action sequences instead of being non-stop action or drama. I liked this film since it was something everyone could enjoy. I went with my mom, dad, and 7 year old niece. She really enjoyed it and the whole family wants it on DVD and blu-ray. I do not remember any bad language as well.
I feel that if people gave Astroboy a chance they will enjoy it. We've watched many kids films like Kung Fu Panda, Monsters Vs Aliens, and so on recently and this was one we all could watch no problem.

The movie looks great but in this day and age it is hard to compete with kids films since many come along on a constant basis. I really enjoy the Pixar films like the Incredibles, Toy Story, etc and I put Astroboy on par with them. I feel that this movie was definitely better than some of the recent kid films.

I also would encourage people if they are interested to check out the cartoons. They are actually pretty good. I bought them since I barely remember them as a kid and I am glad I did. The 80's set is really good. It covers some serious topics while still having that cute appeal for kids. They are on amazon and really inexpensive as well.

I'll attempt to break it down for people.

Pros: 1.Based on a popular character in Japan
2. Something both adults and children can enjoy
3. No bad language and little potty humor (if any)
4. Pretty good voice actors as well.

Cons: 1. Fans of the old cartoons may not like the new look

Although kids are likely only to remember the 90% good parts of the movie, do be aware there are two scenes that are likely to be frightening and question-provoking. #1 The scientist's child dies in the first few moments - killed by the peackeeper robot. #2 After creating the AstroBoy (to replace the dead child), the same scientist rejects Astroboy and says he doesn't want him around anymore and sends him away.

If you like action packed, futuristic stories, then you should probably see this movie.

When this movie first came out, it was so very different then anything that had proceeded it. While action packed, science fiction movies had been made before, none were so deliciously eccentric as The Fifth Element. While the plot of evil taking over and a hero rising to save the day, and humanity, is not such an original concept, the twisted nature of the characters completely made up for this ten fold.

The tough ex-military Major, turned cab driver that just CAN'T catch a break Bruce Willis portrays is brilliant. While he retains his action packed persona, he also adds a sarcastically witty humor to the mixture that creates a fun and strangely charming character, that you can't help but cheer for. The heroine of the story, the savvy, orange headed, non English speaking, fifth element, is just as amazing. Milia does a fantastic job creating a combination of sweet innocence, mischievous playfulness and a kick a$$ martial artist, that just makes the character of Li-loo explode with dynamic energy. Then you have Ruby Rhod, the personification of sexual mainstream in the future. (And what is up with his clothes and hair?)He is diva of the twenty-third century,(and yes, I weep for the future) with a boisterous, flamboyant flavored personality and an inherent yellow streak that runs from the top of his head to the tips of his toes. This makes him a hilarious character to watch bumble around in the unlikely company of Major Corbin Dallas (Willis), the unwitting hero of the story. The chemistry between the cast in each of their prospective roles is like a flawless dance, which makes the story that much more enjoyable.

The world itself is masterful and innovative! The clothing, technology, transportation, and weapons is very original and like I said, wonderfully eccentric. The way each of the scenes were shot is spectacular and full of color. It makes the world of The Fifth Element feel real and alive. This, accompanied by the music compilation for the film, make it extremely likable all around. The music fits the film like a glove, being as perfectly unconventional as the movie itself.

I just recently purchased the Blue Ray and was stunned by the sharpness of the picture. It not only brings life to the film, but also makes it feel like you could be standing right there in the futuristic world along with the characters. If you like this movie and have NOT seen it on Blue Ray yet, I strongly suggest you do. It's worth the experience.

Taking place in 23rd century New York, where flying cars pollute the skies, this futuristic thriller, directed by Luc Besson, is one of the most colorful, vibrant, visually ostentatious films ever made. In it, a taxi-driver with Special Forces training (Bruce Willis) is caught off guard when a scantily-clad, orange-haired clone named Leeloo (Milla Jovovich) falls into his backseat. Regarded and referred to as "the perfect being," Leeloo represents the good in an intergalactic war against Evil, and is humankind's last hope for survival--she is the Fifth Element. Gary Oldman, Ian Holm and Chris Tucker round up a collective cast that fits impeccably with the pace and story Besson offers viewers, and are each indispensable in their respective roles. As a whole, however, The Fifth Element seems burdened by its own objective, which is to overwhelm its audience's senses. Had it slowed down a bit to focus more on the characters at its center, the film would have been much more successful as a motion picture; instead, it's just a pretty good article of entertainment. The remastered Blu-ray edition enhances Besson's beautiful imagery enough that fans of the film will have reason to make the HD upgrade, but only fans.

This is not a movie review, this is primarily about the quality of the latest Blu-Ray remaster for this movie.

It really isn't all that much better than the DVD quality, kind of gets grainy a lot in scenes. I was disappointed after the amazingly crystal clear blu ray version of Galaxy Quest.

Well the upside I suppose is I get to watch one of my favourite movies of all time in slightly better than DVD quality.

5stars - "A Masterpiece" (A. L. Haskett)

After a slow, but interesting, start this movie grabs you and doesn't let you stop to think about anything else until it is over 2 hours later. It is not till later that you realize that the plot is full of holes big enough to drive a space ship through, but that doesn't matter. It is a video and audio onslaught to your senses and one of my favourite all time movies since I first watched it on pay TV 10 years ago. I own a copy of the 1st DVD release from 1998, which was for its time one of the highest quality DVDs available. Two subsequent DVD releases, one a super-bit, have each been better as the technology matured, but this Blu-ray release blows them all away.
I couldn't find fault with the picture quality on my 50" plasma, and all 6 speakers were going continuously. If you like top quality fun buy this movie and watch it over and over.
