Simple, virtually automatic, nearly bulletproof.

I got this as a 30 day freebie with a D-Link wireless router and even though I've been in the business for over 20 years I've never seen anything make the drudgery of networking on Microsoft platforms so EASY!

We have 4 computers (2 wired and 2 wireless) and a Slingbox, they are all now on one network with 3 printers. Total setup time was about an hour. It was easy, and Network Magic automatically updated all 4 machines to the current 4.8 version. OK, so its eval software but I'm already hooked. Its easy for the kids to use and sharing files and printing remotely is a breeze. I honestly dont know how anybody can diss this software, its amazing. The license is cheap, I'll be a subscriber when my 30 days are up. 5 Gigaschnitzles

5stars - "Even if you've never seen a computer before you can make this work." (Ghenghis)

If you are doing any gaming at all online, run away from this product. The concept behind this software is fantastic, but reliability is spotty. Tells you exactly what is on the network and when, but randomly fails to connect to the internet saying the network is down (even when it is up) failing every 20-45 minutes. I know the network is good because when I look at the connector for the cat 5 cable on the comp it has an amber light on telling me it has good signal, and if I kill the NM process in the Windows task manager I can connect via XP connection wizard no problem, even though NM says it tried to fix the connection and couldn't. when I uninstalled NM, my network became rock solid again, too bad for Network MAgic. Great idea, poor execution.

Installation was easy. Like any software working on multiple machines there were adjustments that had to be made. Once the adjustments were made Network Magic was everything that I expected it to be.

I bought and installed Network Magic and had constant problems with it crashing my machine and having to send error reports to Microsoft. Even after there upgrade it didn't help the error reports. Along with HP net work printer it was a disaster. After removing all of the soft ware for the hp 2610 all in one printer there still where problems. I waited for a couple of weeks to see if they where supporting my linksys router, I reinstalled it again and an error showed up on my other computer that didn't have Network Magic installed. I uninstalled it for the last time.

I think this program is great. I have networked 3 computers and a 3in1 printer and all seem to work great together with easy access when needed. With wireless, this program makes it easy to do everything from my comfortable recliner while sipping on a good strong cup of jo. Take care!!

If you buy this product and you have a problem, you need to understand that YOU ARE ON YOUR OWN.

Repeated attempts to contact customer service and tech support were unsuccessful. My wife was on the phone for forty-five minutes. I was on the phone for over an hour. Repeated email contacts were ignored. I even engaged a local media outlet to help. One of the local radio stations has a host who has a computer news show. They ignored him too.

What was the problem? After the first installation, we couldn't attach to their server to update the definitions. (Yes, we had an active Internet connection). How do you like that. The software is out of date from the first use and you can't do anything about it.

Finally, I gave up and bought one of their competitor's products. You should too.

I used Spyware Exterminator 2005 for the past year. Until about six weeks ago, I would have given this product a wonderful evaluation. After updating the spyware definitions, the program quit running. For the past six weeks, the technical support for this product has been unresponsive. I have sent in three different requests on their website. If they will not support their product, then you should not buy this software.

Was using the previous version, when one day I noticed a banner display on my Spyware X-terminator program display that mentioned a free update to version 2005. So I jumped on the deal.

I like the updated interface design.

The program found several items that other scanners had missed.

The new version adds colored dots [buttons?] that indicate the severity of the item it found, from LOW to HIGH, and also an UNKNOWN.

I've only tried it a few times. Since the 1st run through one's pc really cleans things up, it's hard to compare it directly to another anti-sppware cleaner.
[What I should have done was to run it ONLY to DETECT the "mal-ware" and then ran my other anti-spy programs and compared]:
-items found

-items missed [if any]
-etc

But I didn't.

All things considered, my 2 favorites are:

1. Webroot spy-sweeper
2. Spyware Xterminator 2005
