This is perhaps the worst made for tv christmas special ever broadcast. The acting in the claymation of Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer merits an Oscar in comparison. After stumbling over this movie on ABC Family, I absolutely had to have it. After checking Amazon for months, this is the first time I have been able to find it! I am a huge fan of Keanu Reeves, so this movie was an absolute delight (even to someone born in 1987).

The premise of the story begins after Lisa Piper (Drew Barrymore), a child who appears to have already "grown up," is thrown out of a car. Her world quickly becomes Toyland which is a combination of "The Wizard of Oz," and a "Mother Goose" world. Mary Contrary (Jill Schoelen) and Jack Nimble (Keanu Reeves) are in love with each other; however, the antagonist of the story, Barnaby Barnacle (Richard Mulligan), is forcing Mary to wed him. Naturally, Mary and Jack are unwilling to succumb to living without each other and as a result, Lisa becomes involved. Soon enough, a battle over Toyland begins with the evil Barnaby Barnacle leading the way. Ultimately, Lisa and her new friends attempt to enlist the help of the Toymaster (Pat Morita) who can only help if Lisa believes in toys. Thus, the story brings on a reminiscent moment of childhood that so many crave. Even as the battle for Toyland develops, one begins to wonder if Lisa will ever make it back home to her family and friends.

While this movie is perfect for any child to watch during Christmas, adults can appreciate the effortlessly created storyline that engulfs everyone. I most definitely recommend this to Keanu Reeves, or Drew Barrymore, fans! I saw this movie at an early age and to see it available is stupendous! The magnificent child-like creations in this story are endearing and promise to bring about holiday spirit. This movie is definitely one to reminisce over for years to come and is easily a classic among so many holiday movies!

I loved this film as a child, treasuring the "taped from the TV" version well into my twenties. When I finally purchased the video, I was disappointed to realize that the VHS is edited, eliminating some transitional dialogue and two songs ("jail break" and the one where Jack and Mary are singing in jail). It is still a charming story that will be passed along for generations to come, but I will be sure to hold on to the "tv version" that has every aspect of the film. It would be terrific if ORION released a DVD version of this film with all of the uncut scenes in it!

I was very pleased with the condition of the product. It was shipped in a timely manner and the condition was as stated "new". This vendor stated by email that they shipped the product by first class mail on the 16th of December. They did not. They actually did not ship it until January 2, 2009. This is a perfect example of a vendor who did not have a product marketing an unavailable product online, taking people's money under a agreement that it would be shipped immediately, lying about the ship date and ignoring requests for information. I would not buy anything from this vendor. I believe what they did was in violation of Amazon.com's vendor agreement.

*****WARNING!****** There maybe spoilers in this review for those who haven't seen the movie yet!*******

Beauty And The Beast happens to be my all time favorite Disney animated movie. I saw it in the theater at least 4 times when it was first released in 1991 and I must have watched it a dozen or so times since then. There are several reasons why Beauty And The Beast is my favorite Disney movie. For one, Belle is a heroine that many young women today can definitely relate to. Her love of reading, the fact that a man being handsome alone doesn't impress her (Gaston) and her curiousity about things makes her personality very realistic and endearing.

Another reason why Beauty And The Beast is my favorite is the music. I've never enjoyed the music in a Disney movie as much as I have this one. The clever and sometimes touching lyrics draw you in and make one caught up in the story. Songs such as "Belle", "Gaston", "Something There" "Be Our Guest" and of course the title track add so much to the overall story and give the viewer a deeper understanding of the characters.

Yet another reason is the animation. True, there are many Disney movies where the animation is dazzling, however, I'm just so drawn to (no pun intended) the animation in this movie. The scene that impresses me the most is the one where Belle and The Beast dance while Mrs. Potts sings the title song. The combination of tradiditional and computer animation has the end result being such a stunning and beautiful scene. Probably from an artistic point of view (not to mention an emotional point of view), my favorite scene from the movie.

Finally, lets not forget the story itself. I think the meaning of it is beautiful. It's about looking at the person's inside and finding the true beauty of someone's soul, which is Belle's POV. I think we all forget sometimes about that, and this movie is a lovely reminder of that. Another lesson is how people can change, can learn and grow, which is the Beast's POV. It also demonstrates how love conquers all things, even when you think all hope is lost (the last petal of the rose falling after Belle tells the Beast that she loves him). That is a profound message.

I ordered Snow White in plenty of time to get the movie for my grandaughter for Christmas. I didn't receive it in over a week so I emailed the company to ask about it. I received an email from them (Seemybooks) promptly stating that Amazon had given them the wrong zip code and that they had just put it in the mail to me with the right zip code. I waited until Christmas Eve mail to see if the movie would come. When it wasn't in the mail I emailed them back to tell them I hadn't received the movie. Another prompt email came back stating that my AMEX payment had been cancelled and that the movie wouldn't be coming. I was very disappointed. They didn't even apologize.

The movie was billed as in excellent condition, but it gets stuck at the same point every time and is almost impossible to continue on. We always miss part of the movie when we do finally get it to play again and it takes a lot of time. I definitely wouldn't buy like this again.

When i received the Snow White DVD in the mail, my daughter wanted to watch it right away. Unfortunately, when we tried to play it in the living room, all we got was a lot of noise from the machine and "Disk Error" on the screen. Needless to say I was not very happy. We tried it in the DVD player in my bedroom and it does work in there although the entire time it plays you can hear the disk inside the machine. Since I dont want to have to let my daughter in my room every time she want to watch Snow White, I will probably be buying another copy and hoping for the best.

I came to Amazon a few weeks ago in order to buy the DVD version of Muppets Family Christmas for my grandsons. Its been a family fave of ours for 20 years now. Imagine my surprise when I saw the price of it! That alone was enough to deter me and then I read the reviews and saw that several of the best parts of this movie had been edited out.

Whats the point in spending almost $200 when it isnt even the original movie?

Amazon: A word of advice here. Dont bother trying to sell this movie at such an exorbitant price and then let people know that key parts have been edited due to something as stupid and trivial as "production rights".

I still have my original VHS tape and will continue to watch that with my grandsons until the powers that be grow up and stop penalizing the viewing public for something we have absolutely no control over.

i have this video but on vhs without any commercials and was hoping to find the whole thing intack so i can have it on dvd. i am soo glad that i read the review from Fritogirl.. those edits make the show almost unwatchable in my opinion... tho being able to see Elmo before he was so big is also a funny thing..in this version Elmo is just one of the other monsters, but he is there none the less. just singing along....with Harry Monster and Grover.. is also before Zoey.. the Fraggles are included which makes it a must see for any Fraggle Rock-er...hands you a Christmas pebble.. Merry Christmas

This is one of the best, if not the best videos that the late, great Jim Henson produced prior to his untimely death. I resell a lot of the children's videos that I purchase on line, at private sales and from my own distributors, and this one literally flys off my auction site as soon as I list one. This is an out of print video, so its not very easy to find copies of same.Of course, as with most of Henson's videos, violence is not present, the majority of his videos are all feel good ones and they are absolutely great for the young children.

Like everyone else, I've been searching for this show on DVD for YEARS! It was a favorite of mine when I was little. We had it on VHS, but sometime between me moving out and my brother, it got lost. As much as I loved this, I wasn't going to spend 200 bucks for it. However, I found a website that tracks down old, hard to find DVDs and sells them for an appropriate price. Lo and behold, they had a copy for $18 plus $4 shipping!! I bought it and just got it in the mail today and I've already watched it. It's a two disk set. The first disc is the remastered, yet chopped up version and the second disc was the original, televised broadcast! The quality wasn't the best in the world....you can tell it was recorded off of a beta or VHS, but it's still completely watchable if you don't mind the occasional glitches (hey, after 20+ years, my VHS was in worse shape than this). So there's hope out there! Here's the link....hopefully, they'll have more for all those out there still looking for a copy....

This is a beautiful version of the Classic Jimmy Stewart movie that is a must view during the holiday season.

I had not purchsed any version prior to this one so I cannot comment on how it compares, but it is wonderful to have so you can watch the movie when you like to and not have to worry about the television schedule, which I always find a bit difficult to squeeze in this time of year.

This is a beautiful version of the Classic Jimmy Stewart movie that is a must view during the holiday season.

5stars - "A Blissful Experience" (Fredo D. Murillo Jr.)

I'm not sure about this EXACT VHS tape on here, but I watched the original Fantasia growing up (I'm 21 now) and I turned into a music prodigy.
I watched it every day, sometimes twice, from age 2 until I was about 11 or so. I was obsessed with the music, I loved it, and now that I look back, I have a theory that when you see rhythm paired with colors like this, it naturally teaches you rhythm.

Compare this to the Baby Einstein bull..really compare them (it's not hard)

Baby Einstein music is dumbed down...beautiful masterpieces changed completely!! I DON'T GET IT.
Fantasia incorporates completely original beautiful classical masterpieces from the world's best composers.and pairs it with exactly matched cartoon rhythms...

Growing up, I naturally started playing piano well, it just "made sense." I was able to play commercial tunes on the piano without even thinking. I then started drums, violin and guitar. No problem.
I was always #1, always first chair, always understood, complex rhythms, etc etc.

I made an all-city high school band when I was in middle school..and also gave lessons to other students in the high school band.

I could keep going but it's too much to read.
Fantasia is an amazing amazing amazing movie and concept.
Please show this movie to your kids every day!!
If your kid can hum tunes to Bach, Mozart, etc...he or she will be smart. It just works that way.

Trust me.

1st of all I did not buy this in August but in November. Wasn't aware that the delivery date would be January 2009 till I searched 'state of order'. (could have missed this at time of ordering?) But when I wrote to seller stating it was a Xmas gift, I got a quick reply and the item arrived a few days after. Acceptable but not great condition especially for the price.

1stars - "DO NOT BUY THIS DVD!!" (William P. Ruspantine)

I have to admit, I'm an avid listener of classical music. So it's a small wonder why Disney's Fantasia is one of my favorite films. Every music sequence is pure gold (except maybe the Pastoral sequence).

Toccata and Fugue in D Minor by Johann Sebastian Bach = My second favorite sequence, it is a mixture of abstract colors & images, live action orchestral playing, and Stokowski's acclaimed orchestration of Bach's organ music.

Nutcracker Suite by Peter Illich Tchaikovsky = Although I'm not a fan of Tchaikovsky's ballet music, this one is very good and entertaining. The dancing of the fairies and flowers and mushrooms make for a heck of a good time for the whole family.

The Sorcerer's Apprentice by Paul Dukas = This is probably the most exciting rendition of Dukas's masterpiece I've ever heard (even though a few minutes of music has been cut out of it). Mickey the apprentice dreams of being a powerful sorcerer, so he dons the hat of his master, and lets loose his magic. But, of course, no one controls literally everything that is created . . .

Le Sacre du Printemps (The Rite of Spring) by Igor Stravinsky = This is my 3rd favorite out of all of them for two reasons. One is that Stravinsky is one of my all-time favorite composers, and two, The Rite of Spring is one of my all-time favorite pieces. Too bad that a mere ten minutes has been cut in order to save time. Dinosaurs, volcanoes, and earthquakes do seem to fit Stravinsky's music a bit, that I can tell you.

Symphony No. 6 "Pastoral" by Ludwig van Beethoven = This is probably the weakest of all the sequences. It's too cartoony, too bombastic, too cheery, and to many minutes of music have been cut out sadly. The storm scene is a nice touch, though.

Dance of the Hours by Amilcare Ponchielli = Gorgeous and downright hilarious. If you don't think hippo and ostrich ballet dancers is funny, then something is wrong with you.

A Night on Bald Mountain by Modest Mussorgsky/Ave Maria by Franz Schubert = Ah yes. My No. 1 favorite out of all of them. This didn't scare me as a kid for some reason. Chernobog is as creepy as The Horned King from "The Black Cauldron", and the demonic and ghostly dancing was (and still is) way ahead of its time. The last five minutes is beautiful and ethereal = they don't make them like they used to.

Grade: A

I was given this wonderful video in VHS format when I was pregnant with my oldest child. Since then my family and I have watched it so many times, the picture and sound are completely warped. If you can get this on DVD, trust me it will be well worth the price! It's a movie the family will want to watch year round.

There are so many lessons in this movie, it's hard to pick just one. This movie is about tollerance, love, the magic of true friendship, and sacrifice. We all could learn a thing or two from this movie.
