Excellent product. I had lost 52 pounds on the Sweatin to the Oldies program. The only this is they are great aerobics program; you might have to include sit ups or push ups with the program. Even though I lost alot of weight I wasn't very tight and tone. However Richard Simmons always delivers with a fun and effective weight loss program.

I finally found exercise I can do! I have a bad knee and am not able to do a lot of walking. I have trouble losing weight since I have a hard time doing any exercise. But, I am able to do this. Just not any knee bends. Richard makes it fun with the great oldies songs and I really like the people in it. They are REAL people, not the Hollywood actresses and actors who look like skinny models. They are real people like me and are obviosly having a good time. This video is great for people just starting out or, like me, who have physical limitations.

This tape is very easy... He does reps of 2, 4, or 8. Very easy to follow. He doesn't give much instruction, but after you do it a few times you can practically do it with your eyes closed. If I feel like I'm not getting enough from it, i do things a little faster, and at times do the tape twice. And after that I take my son for a walk and do some sit ups. Just waiting for the next video to come in the mail. So far I have lost 12 pounds and it has only been 2 weeks. I highly recommend this tape for someone who is just starting to work out or someone who doesn't like to work out!!!

Purchasing this video is a repeat offense on my part. My original 1987 tape wore out, and even though I probably have the routine memorized, I am purchasing this product again for the entertainment value that comes from watching Greg in action. I agree with previous reviewers -you absolutely feel a difference when you do this routine.

This workout is not only hardcore, it is also a fun trip back to the 1980s! I have used the VHS version for many years and recently discovered, to my happiness, that a DVD version exists! I'm glad I took the advice of the many great reviews on Amazon and bought this video (used.) It's a great, effective workout with substance, and easy to stick with. You often don't find this in more recent workout DVD's. I'd say it's one of the best workout tapes I own.

It works every muscle in your thighs and butt, plus some ab work. Some of the moves are excruciatingly hard, but it's working when you feel the burn. The workout is safe, easy on your back and joints, and doesn't require complicated dance moves (lucky for me, I'm so uncoordinated!)

I know it's really cheesy, made in 1987 with it's 80's music, headbands, legwarmers, the guy with Jheri curl in his hair, full makeup and mall hair on the girls, but that's what I love about it. Between that and hearing, "Reach for the stars!" and Greg Smithey's other cheesy ecouragements, you can LAUGH your butt off while blasting your glutes. Otherwise, just turn down the sound and listen to your IPod.

I'm going to have to have this converted to a DVD.

This is the original workout that will give you results, all others are followers. I remember when this was sold on vinyl or album, text book and VHS. I remember going to exercise class when our instructor would plug in the record player and play the album format. This is the best workout to date. I got results back when it was introduced in 1982 and now that I finally found a copy (unfortunately it is not sold on DVD) and started using it again I have achieved the same results. I would recommend this tape to anyone who does not like working out on machines all day or evening at the gym. If you do the advance workout at least 3 to 4 times a week along with low impact aerobic exercise you can achieve the results of a nice lean sculpted body along with good eating habits.

In my quest for a thinner me, I have followed all the roads to that elusive size 10. During all those year, the one exercise video tape that really worked is the Orignial Jane Fonda tape.

It is not fancy - but believe me it works. At this moment, I was stunned that I found another copy. I wore out the two I previously owned and, even with the age of cyberspace, have yet to find another one.

On January 7, 2004, I awoke to say - enough is enough - no more weighing
211 pounds. Today, June 10,2007, I awoke to make a decision about buying a particular dress and the only size the store had was a 6. Presently, I
wear a size 10 and with the help of Weight Watchers and my own determination weight 141 - or 70 lbs less.

The road was steep and long - but if you want it enough - you can do it!
Trust me, if the original cheesecake baby did it, anyone can and that I know that I once again have this workout tape - dress ahead.

Please believe me - this tape is better than good - it is a lifesaver.

I have really enjoyed this video. A team of us at work are doing the 8 minute workout during our safety meeting and then at lunch. I have mastered the 8 minute workout and will proceed at home doing the Basic. At work we will continue to do the 8 minute workout until the group is ready to move forward at lunch to the Basic. I would and have recommended this video to friends of mine. I have being doing the 8 minute workout for 5 weeks now and I can feel and see the results. TAEBO REALLY WORKS!!!!

I get stuck in a rut of routine workouts where I find myself not obtaining results for as much as I work out. I thought I would try kickboxing (something different) and had heard that this particular Tae Bo series (the orignal) of workouts was hard and challenging but great results for those that stick with it. I am addicted. These workouts are very easy to follow (basic counting; no fluff) but makes you work up a sweat and gets your heart rate up. I have noticed just doing the basic 27 minute workout three times a week for two weeks that my stomach is a lot more toned as well as my legs are starting to show definition. I am ready to graduate and try the advanced workout and mix it up.

I bought this first set of tae-bo when it just came out in 2000, one of my friends who was practicing martial arts recommended it. I was fairely active and athletic, but after my first pregnancy it was so hard to get back in shape. I was struggling for a few years, trying walking, jogging, gym, classes, everything with minor results. And then I started doing tae-bo. It was not easy, but after a month or so of doing basic I switched to advanced. My body had never looked better, I never felt better about myself! I was simply addicted to this workout! I never received so many compliments in my entire life! I should say, at about the same time I started doing yoga 2-3 times a week. It was a great work out balance. All that happened almost 7 years ago. Now, every time, when I need to shed a few pounds, I know where to go to, not to the gym, but to my bookshelf, where I keep a good collection of Tae-Bo tapes. They never let me down, never! And it's true, you can see results after 2-3 workouts only. Whether you want to lose weight or get your body toned and muscles more defined, this one is the best workout!

I have to say how wonderful, motivational and challenging tae bo workouts are. In 2 months I've lost 32 pounds, I do tae bo 6 times per week for about 3 months now. I must share the toning results. I've never thought there were actually muscles under the fat in my body after losing 32 pounds. I can see a huge diference on the way I feel, my energy, I feel more confident. I know if I keep doing tae bo I can get to my goal.

If you're determined to lose weight and want to make the effort then tae bo is for you. I'm kind of addicted to it I have to admit it. But I enjoy doing it and seing the results.

Billy also is a great motivation his words of wisdom and his team behind him makes it a fun workout.

I love tae-bo! Billy Blanks is awesome and Tae-bo is fun and easy to use. This dvd is great because it has the different workouts so you can choose what level of difficulty you want. The 8 minute workout is also nice because it's quick enough to do if you only have a few minutes, but effective enough to get your heart pumping and let you feel like you've actually worked out, even if it's only for 8 minutes! I think anyone can do taebo-whether you are super-fit or out of shape. And if you can't quite do all of the moves in the workouts, Billy will show you ways to make them easier. Give Tae-bo a chance! I bet you'll like it!

I bought this tape in an effort to build body strength and lose some pounds. It was a penny before shipping so I didn't think twice whether to buy it or not. I think that it is a great workout for beginners like myself. I do think that Billy Blanks probably should have done this video by himself. The camera focused too much on the other people in the tape and not enough on him, so it is hard to see where he places his foot and how he twists his knees during jabs. I hated that the camera was on one of the girls in particular that kept screaming, oh yeah. After a couple of times, it drove me crazy. All in all it was a good tape, even though I have to keep the volume turned down and look away from the tape. oh yea!

I absolutely love this workout! It is so much fun and you see results within the first week!!! 3 years ago, I did this work out 3 days a week, with some Pilates in between (Ellen Barrett Pick Your Spot Pilates)and was on weight Watchers and lost 25 pounds in just 3 months and felt better than ever! I was in better shape and more toned than I even had been in school. I recommend this to people all the time. It is the best!

I've been doing Yoga, Pilates and Weight Training for years. Tae Bo NEVER interested me at all!

My wife came home with a bunch of old Tae Bo's that she got at a garage sale. I thought that I'd never have any use for them.

Well, currently I've been preparing to do Tony Horton's DVD Bootcamp P90X. While I've been waiting for my shipment to come I've been preparing myself for it by doing different disciplines.

Knowing that Kenpo is one of the types of programs on P90X I figured that maybe Tae Bo would at least give me a ballpark idea of what a martial arts based workout might be like so I pulled out those Tae Bo Tapes.

Last Friday I did the "Instructional" program and found it really well done. Billy Blanks does a great job of explaining not only the moves but where you should be feeling them throughout your body. There is a definite overall emphasis on safely doing them as not to hurt the joints. Also, I had a really great time doing it which really surprised me!

Today (a week later) I did the "Basic" program and definitely found the "Instructional", even just one time doing it, prepared me for this actual workout (the instructional isn't a workout but is a great place to start if like me, you've never done anything like this).

The "Basic" program was a lot more intense that I thought it would be, I worked up quite a sweat and felt great after.

The only things I'd say to maybe be cautious of is that in the beginning warmups he does some neck movements a bit rapidly so for someone like myself with neck issues I would still do the warmups but move at a slower pace so you don't get hurt.

The other thing I wanted to mention is that in the "Instructional" program, it's not designed as a workout so not everything done on one side is done on the other. I started doing them on both side on my own so I'd at least get the feel for those.

All in all, I was very impressed with Billy Blanks as a teacher and for how much of a real workout this was.

I bought this video along with a step video by Kathy Smith. Kathy Smith's moves were much too complex for me and I stopped using it. However after a day's work and doing home chores, I look forward to doing Jane Fonda's video. I have never done the whole step section at one time, but find it easy to choose 2 or 3 segments (the instructors take turns) and I often find myself saying "just one more segment." The moves are simple, but interesting, and the music is fun. All 3 instructors are good and upbeat. It really gives me a workout and leaves me feeling positive because I have enjoyed myself and exercised at the same time.

I've only done the ab section (by Jane Fonda) once, but will do it again because it's easy to follow while giving my abs a good workout.

I am totally new to aerobics and was looking forward to this video tape as a refreshing change from Pilates. But after having done the exercises several times, I would not recommend this tape to a beginner like myself.

Positives first: Jane Fonda's instructions to the abdominal workout are terrific. She has a natural talent for this and is therefore very easy to follow and listen to. I will continue to do these exercises, as I can feel and see them working. If only I could say the same about the aerobic workout....The aerobic workout simply doesn't work for me, due to lack of proper instructions. I wish the instructors would spend less time exclaiming "Give it to me!" and "All right!" and more time explaining the actual moves. Like another reviewer mentions, it is sometimes hard to follow the moves as you see the instructors almost exclusively from the front. It would have made a big difference if they would have stood in front of mirrors. Again, I am new to this, and I am sure the video works well for more experienced people. I, on the other hand, find myself just following the moves the best I can, and I am sure glad there is no one to video-tape me -- especially since my three-year-old daughter, upon seeing me doing the aerobic steps in a rather uncordinated manner and swinging my arms at random, said: "Mommy, you're no good at this!"

I had a hard time following steps because instructors are facing you. I would love it if you could see the steps from behind. Several times over many years I have taken out the stepper, try to follow the tape, then put it back in the attic again. If I could find a tape or cd where the instructor is not facing you but are turned around to were you are looking at their back, I would buy it.

This is the first firm video I bought and used, it is my favorite.
It is a bout 62 minutes so you need to prepare for that, however when I am short on time you can do the first 30 minutes or skip parts, it is made in sections so its easy to do.
When I first did this workout the only other previous training I had was slim-n-six. Going from the hardest video in the slim-n-six to the firm was easy and some of the moves were the same. With the firm though I was really tired by the end of the running in place bit (10-15 min. into it) and couldn't finish most of the moves. It worked me out harder than I expected, especially since I could completely finish the hardest one in slim-n-six! It wasn't so hard though that I felt I would never be able to do it, with in 2-3 weeks I could it fine. If something doesn't feel right I just slightly modify it so it feels comfortable (with pillows or I don't go as low, etc.). Susan Harris does a great job queuing and she has a personality, I love it when she says "Its hard Ay?"
If you have no experience then just do what you can and don't use weights! Stop if you need to and just keep going!

There are some dated elements to this video like the clothing and hair styles, but the the work out is fundamentally effective and enjoyable. Susan Harris is a true master of her craft and delivers a humble and comprehensive lead to a vigerous work out. If you use this work out 4 - 5 times per week you will see surprising results. I love the music they have with this video. Like so many other things, they just don't make them like they used to... This video is 20 years old and is top notch to this day.

Hey, I am back again buying the same tape..Out of all the firm videos, this was my only favorite. Mine was all sctrached out and can't make a copy..If you are motivated and patience this tape can make you feel like to the bone..ouch!!!worthed!! and feel good about yourself..In time you fine all those, 3, 5, 8, and 10 pounds easier and increase to heavier pound..Sounded like I am advertising..I am just a normal little asian person...Have fun!!

I started working out with Jane Fonda at 20 years old after having my first child, and between her tape and Richard Simmons, I got back into shape. Shortly thereafter, I discovered Susan Harris's Total Body workout, I couldn't believe how difficult it was! I have continued using this tape now for about 25 years and even compared to all the new workouts (including Tae-Bo) and including personal training at the gym, I can honestly say that this workout is still one of the most challenging workouts I've done! I try and do it once a week mixed in with other workouts, and it definitely does the trick! It's old and a little hokey, but it's effective! I wish they would put it on DVD!

Another Pixar film that all ages will enjoy, "Finding Nemo" delivers a simple story with some pretty heavy themes. It's one of those rare gems that will entertain you when you're young, but get all the more relevant and meaningful when you see it again later down the road. Contrary to some of the negative reviews, it is never too violent or too sad for the kids to see, giving only the fun scares that movies like The Little Mermaid and The Lion King had throughout. It's about as universally enjoyable as a movie can get.

Aside from WALL-E, it's the most visually stunning Pixar movie I've ever had the pleasure of feasting my eyes upon. The world of the ocean opens up in a beautiful array of colors with scenery as complex and detailed as the real thing. So much work was put into making it look real, and the producers knew when to make certain creatures look just like their real life counter part (the jellyfish) and they knew when to stylize others (the seagulls). From the true to life things to the more cartoony things, everything here is so exceptionally done, from the overall story arc, to the themes of dealing with loss and learning to let your kids experience life, to the characters, to the voice acting, to the exceptionally crafted DVD itself.

I wouldn't call "Finding Nemo" a masterpiece or a classic, but it aims high and comes very, very close. What it is, though, is an astoundingly well done film that tells a story from the heart that will entertain, stun, and put smiles on the faces of the audience.

Deceptively simple, beautiful, moving, and hilarious, DUMBO is often overlooked when considering Disney's greatest films because perhaps of its lack of extravagance, its brief running time, and its simple story. That being said, this movie is more in my opinion for the older youngin's than the babes.

Baby elephant Jumbo Jr. is delivered by the stork to his elephant mom with much fanfare but soon receives a cold shoulder from the snobby female pachyderms and the rest of the circus due to his oversize ears. When his mother goes on a rampage in order to protect him from some snickering rubes, she winds up locked away. Dumbo is left without a friend in the world until the street-smart Timothy Mouse decides to become his manager and a telephone line full of delightful jive-talking crows convince him he can fly.

Highlights include Dumbo accidentally getting drunk and experiencing the surreal musical sequence "Pink Elephants on Parade" and a soundtrack packed with such priceless songs as the Oscar-winning "Baby Mine" and the crow's soulful number, "When I see an Elephant Fly." There's nary an imperfect moment to be found in this raucous, tender, sublime film, which has been delighting audiences for generations.

My grandkids love to watch this movie (and I love to watch it with them).
It has great animation, and funny as well as tender scenes. When the mother elephant sings "Baby Mine, Don't You Cry" I always water up. A great song from a great movie.

Jumbo? Don't you mean Dumbo!

And so the tearfest begins.

I loved this movie as a child and recently rediscovered it while visiting with my two year-old niece. As is typical for kids that age, we watched the movie everyday (sometimes twice) for a week.

Every time I cried.

I can't really think of another Disney movie that depicts such a wonderfully loving and sweet relationship between parent and child (no Bambi didn't do it for me).

Plus Dumbo is the self-doubting underdog throughout, which simply makes me love him even more.

Oh, and my niece, she squealed with delight for Dumbo's triumphs each time and paid serious attention to the sad parts where mother and child are separated. Never underestimate a two year-old.

The only reason I stop short of giving it a 5-star is the dated depictions of excessive alcohol use, smoking and the stereotyping of the crows...yeah I know you can't stereotype crows as such, but we can easily figure out to whom those stereotypes apply. Can't go back in time and undo the social circumstances that made this acceptable childrens entertainment.

Overall, though the touching story of an outcast only a mother could love and his triumph over his tormentors is timeless.

I LOVE this video and need to do it more often! My problem now is I have 2 little boys and when I get on the floor to do it, they want to get on top of me. BUT, if you don't have that problem this is for you. It has different levels of excercises, so there is something for the "new ab excerciser" and those with strong abs already.
If your just getting started, workout 1 is the easiest and best for you, but don't be surprised if you can't get through the whole 10 minutes- it's hard, but you will see a significant increase in how much you can do within a week.
She is great about reminding you to keep your lower back on the floor and doing the excercises correctly.

Although Buns of Steel is pretty hilarious.

I work out with Tamilee Webb almost every morning. I have her first two abdominal exercise tapes, ABS OF STEEL and ABS OF STEEL, PART TWO. ABS OF STEEL, the topic of this review, will ease you into daily ab workouts and improve both your health and appearance.

Tamilee Webb succeeds with ABS OF STEEL because she does not make you feel lazy or out of shape if you can't keep up with her. Tamilee starts with a short warm-up/stretch session to get your blood flowing and muscles ready. Then Tamilee performs the ABS OF STEEL exercise routines in three ten-minute segments. You can do one a day but if ready for more, do a second or even all three, two options I sometimes, tee-hee, exercise.

Tamilee Webb varies the difficulty in the three ABS OF STEEL segments. Either she does this purposely or it's a helpful matter of fate, because if you find one or two of the segments too challenging, you can still do the other(s). FYI, the second ABS OF STEEL segment will work you the hardest; the third segment is next most challenging; and the first segment the easiest. But as you work out with ABS OF STEEL, you will note Tamilee reminds you to take a break if you have a difficult time keeping up.

Speaking of what she may or may not be doing on purpose, Tamilee Webb wears cheeky French cut workout shorts throughout ABS OF STEEL. In the warm-up segment, the shorts shows off a good amount of her big beautiful bottom when she rests on her stomach and also as she pulls her knees to her chest. But(t) it gets real interesting in the third and especially the first ab workout segments, where we see several close-ups of Tamilee's bulbous behind. Maybe Tamilee doesn't know what she's doing, or she doesn't know what the male director and camera operators are doing! Not that I fault Tamilee Webb for not hiding how attractive she is. At the end of the second workout segment, Tamilee even bounces her ample bosoms and lets out a breathy sigh far sexier than one would expect for an exercise instructor.

It is unfortunate that the ABS OF STEEL producers don't value you as much as Tamilee Webb does. Tamilee puts her heart and soul (as well as some other parts of her, as I previously mentioned) into teaching and encouraging you but the budget guys issued the video tape in the cheap, low-quality "SLP" speed, which means poor sound quality and an image that could be sharper. And God forbid they spend a few extra dollars editing. ABS OF STEEL seems to be a "live" shoot. They let Tamilee Webb's mistakes (mostly verbal miscues) fly instead of fixing them with edits or overdubs. Also, at the end of the first exercise routine Tamilee unwittingly continues working when she should instead finish but rather than re-shoot for ten seconds, the ABS OF STEEL producers abruptly cut to Tamilee in a different pose, where she concludes the segment. The title of this tape is ABS OF STEEL, the boss is pinching pennies of copper. Tamilee Webb deserves better.

I wish someone would re-release this on DVD. There simply is nothing else on the market that compares to the original. I have a collection of workout videos/tapes/DVD's, and no matter what else I try, I ALWAYS come back to Tamilee's Abs of Steel for my abdominal workout. It's AWESOME. I love that it's broken down into 10 minute segments. In the beginning stages, you can just choose to do one 10 minute segment. If you're needing more, then you can do one of the others as well. WHY OH WHY OH WHY won't they re-release this on DVD!?!?!?! Guess I won't be getting rid of my VHS anytime soon!!!!!!1
