I purchased the Vu on just the price ($.01 with a renewed contract) and the touch screen...with no intentions on ever using the TV feature. I still have no intentions on using the TV, but I am extremely happy with the phone and would recommend it to friends.

I am a texter -- I go through about 200 texts a day and am a pro at the keypad. With the Vu, I find it near impossible to use the keypad (I am constantly hitting the wrong button and selecting the wrong letter). I was forced to try out the keyboard, which surprisingly works great! I found it it very accurate when you "fat finger" the keys on the keyboard. I normally have medium length nails so I just use my fingernail which is the most accurate.

After a month of using the phone, I'm still getting used to how to access phone numbers whether dialed, received, or in my directory. I think this would be the case with any touch screen. The email and web features are very easy and convenient;I find myself using them several times a day.

Pros: *Very clean, sleek phone. *Relatively small for a touchscreen. *Easy to maneuver through and use. *Alarm feature offers a quick alarm on the front screen in case you need a timer. *Convenient AIM, web and email features.

Cons: *There is a bug with the keyboard - 10% of the time when switching from keypad to keyboard it will lock up and display both on top of each other; I need to press the end button to clear it. *Main menus are not customizable. *You cannot hold the phone between your ear and shoulder - I have hung up on several calls accidentally from my face unlocking the touch screen and pressing the disconnect button; I strongly recommend a blue tooth ear piece. *No place to store a stylus which I use for web browsing. *I have to power cycle the phone once-twice a day because it loses connectivity to the web.

First of all I have really enjoyed this phone for the 2 months I have had it. Now, let me say that besides dropping calls and sitting in the same place while I watch my 3G come and go (full bars to none like a roller coaster) making it impossible to enjoy the video feature I am still pretty happy. Until now. The other night, I turned it off to charge overnight (battery life seems great to me)and then tried to turn it on in the morning. No matter what I do, it will not turn on. It just keeps going to the AT&T splash screen, flickers black and starts the whole process again forever. I cannot even turn it off without removing the battery. No big deal, still under warranty right? Also I am EXTREMELY careful with my phones and know not to damage them in ANY way. I've never even come close to dropping it. So here comes the battle with At&T. I renewed my contract after being a customer 0f 14 years (since Bell South Mobility) against my better judgment having had idiotic issues with them countless times before. Anyway, the warranty department is a nightmare. It's taken me a week, even after going into the store and having the sales consultant say "looks like brand new" to even get this swap approved. No one at AT&T will want to talk to you unless you buy it from THEM in their store and they got commission on it.I did it "free" as an upgrade like this and cannot get ANY form of customer service. I know this isn't the phone's fault, but you can ONLY get it from AT&T and buying it through this method will probably get you the same response or lack thereof. The phone seems fine, well, when it worked, but mind you was only 2 months old when it failed and 2 weeks of that It wasn't even used. Hopefully I am a rare case and you won't have a single issue but knowing how AT&T works on the inside, they won't "respect" you unless you go through channels they offer to acquire it.

I had my eye on the LG VU for about a year now it seemed to be the closest thing to the iPhone without all of the ridiculous limitations, such as only being able to do file management by syncing with iTunes all the time, no BlueTooth capability (other than talking on the phone) and the ridiculous contract through AT&T wireless. I had the iPhone for two days before returning it because after realizing it cost way too much money to be so limited. As much as I disliked the iPhone, I did like some of its features like the touch screen and the internet capability.
I had been using a cheap phone while I searched for one that would be worth dropping a few hundred dollars on. The only one that came close was the LG VU, but even then I was hesitant because it did not have WAN capability like the i-phone did and I knew the internet function of the VU came nowhere near to that of the iPhone. But after my old phone stopped working completely, I had no choice but to get a new phone so I picked up the LG VU. (no contract of course).

The touch screen is fairly responsive, however there are many occasions if you have fairly large hands/fingers you will find yourself pressing the wrong button or letter on the fairly small on screen keyboard and will take some getting used to. A huge problem with the LG's touch screen, is that is it not nearly as responsive as the iPhone when it comes to scrolling such as an internet page. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't at all. In the cases when it does work it very inconsistent, sometimes it only scrolls a few millimeters and other time it scrolls entirely too fast and far causing you to have to start over. This is extremely frustrating however, a small consolation is that you can use the volume keys to automatically move the next or previous page, but it does nothing if you want to scroll horizontally. I don't know if the problems with the touch screen are a result of me having a screen protector on it, but I had a similar screen protector on the iPhone and still did not have any issues with its touch screen.

Speaking of the internet the LG Vu is nowhere near the internet of the iPhone. Its slow, frequently unresponsive and some pages that came up on the iPhone with no problem don't come up at all on the LG Vu. This is because the LG Vu does not use the "real" internet that the IPhone does. The Vu uses the fairly limited Media.net version that most cell phones use meaning that it only works fairly well with the most basic of sites. Anything complicated, even message boards are slow and many times unusable. The iPhone's internet capabilities run circles around this phone.

The best feature of the LG VU is the feature I never had any plans to use at first. This feature is the TV feature. Basically it's just that; a feature that allows you to watch TV on your phone. It works surprisingly well, but there are only a handful of channels to choose from, some examples are NBC, CBS, ESPN, CNN, FoxNews, MTV and Nickelodeon. The news channels are "Live" but others play reruns of the previous day's shows. There are cases where the picture/sound will freeze and become garbled, but for the most part is pretty good. The TV feature can only be used if you pay for the service (about $30/month), but once you pay, its unlimited use. Add another $5 to have unlimited Media.net usage. There is also a cellular video feature allowing you to watch full length TV shows and sports but I haven't used it.

Other than the touch screen, and TV feature the LG VU has the same features every other phone has; various Bluetooth services that are not limited to just voice such as the iPhone, music player, ability to use MP3's as ring tones, and 2MP camera phone used for taking stills and short videos. The camera does not snap very good pictures as most of the time they come out blurry even though the image on the screen prior to taking the picture is quite clear. The pictures are blurry even though I hold it perfectly still. It seems the only time I get clearer pictures is when I'm moving slightly so I have no idea what is up with that.

The LG VU is not a bad phone but it could have been so much better. It suffers greatly from not having WAN capability and the UI occasionally becomes unresponsive and freezes. The internet interface though only using Media.net still could have been designed a lot better. Had I not absolutely needed a phone, then I would have not gotten the LG VU, but since I didn't have one at all I had to make a decision.

My wife gave me the LG Vu 920. The phone looks nice. The touch screen works well for me, and call quality is very good and the speakerphone is great. The best feature is when pressing one button the time and date flash on screen in large letters unlike other phones I used before.
What I don't like about the phone is that it takes many steps to get where you want e.g. speed dial...several steps; switching between two calls also it takes 3 steps. The signal works in some areas in my house while another phone works in all areas. All in all, I like using it.

Besides the battery time being a weak point, the scroll down mechanism for your call list is poorly designed. You cannot get to the bottom of your list without hitting the Options button at the bottom of the page thereby not permitting access to those numbers. This is definitely a pooly designed mechanism. LG needs to go back to the drawing board. Guess I have to wait two years before I can get a new phone.

Before I got this phone i read a lot of reviews comparing it to smart phone. It falls short of smart phone features because it is not one! It is the best multimedia phone I ever had. Ive been through plenty of music phones including the iphone(first one an 3G), Samsung sync, the chocolate, Nokia 5310, Motorola ROKR, Sony W580i, Sony W600i, Samsung Upstage, Moto KRZR, and the Nokia 3300. Sometimes I wish it had WiFi, but att 3G is so fast that i can do without it. I recently put Eagle Eye and the Dark Knight on it and the picture quality is amazing. The TV feature is not all that great because it is only a handful of channels. If your looking for a phone to try Flotv o you should try the Vu. Google Maps is decent on it although it does not use the built in gps, it triangulates your position using local cellphone towers. It does not come with a usb cable, but if you feel you really need one. you can pick one up at amazon for $5 or less. I honestly don't see why anyone would need one because I connect it to my computer using bluetooth and put music and movies directly on my 8gb micro sd. In conclusion it is a great music phone because of its 3.5 mm plug (for use with regular headphones), 200MB built in storage (holds like 3 CDs), and good music organization. It is also good for texting because it has a choice of font and built in accelerometer (unlike the Vu).

There is supposed to be an upgrade for "one touch" dialing at some future date. We need one for "voice" Dialing. No voice dial makes bluetooth calling, "in car or headset" pretty much a waste of time and money. Not to mention dangerous, because you still have to manipulate the phone, steering wheel, and the bluetooth device.

I've had this phone now for over a week. And so far it is a great phone. Calls are crystal clear including speakerphone. Also if you love texting; this phone is excellent. The touch screen is very responsive; also the internet work great so far, no problems at all when trying to surf the web or check my e-mail.

I've had this phone for about five days, and I can't stop playing with it. The touch screen is excellent; much more responsive than the one on the LG Vu, which I originally wanted but changed my mind after playing with it for about five minutes when it first came out. It's not quite as responsive as the touch screen on the iPhone, but that phone has, in my opinion, the best touch screen ever, so I wasn't expecting that level of perfection. The menus and user interface are attractive and fairly self-explanatory, and text entry is pretty easy. And I love the haptic feedback (the split-second vibration) when using the touch screen. The internet is great on it too. For sites that have mobile versions (like ESPN), you will be routed to that mobile version. But for sites that don't have a mobile version, you'll get the real site, with the ability to scroll in all directions and zoom in on small type and links. By the way, it's a phone too! The call quality is crystal clear and I haven't had any dropped calls or signal issues (although I do live in a city with great service). The only reason this review is 4.5 stars instead of a full 5 is that I wish the vibration was stronger for calls and text messages (when it's in a holster on my hip I usually don't feel anything), and I'd like a little more battery life, although in the phone's defense, I do play with it a lot. So if you're looking for a touch screen phone with lots of bells and whistles and don't want to be tied to the required $30 per month iPhone 3G data plan, give this one a try. I don't think you'll be disappointed.

My Blackberry Bold is headed for the junk drawer...or the nearest brick wall. The battery life is terrible, and even without talking on the phone, I have to recharge mine 2-3 times a day. The Bold's software glitches sometimes make me wonder if I perhaps accidently bought mine from a joke shop. The thing is constantly rebooting.

And dont get me started about the cost of roaming. The damn thing eats megabytes by the dozen everyday, even when you are not surfing. Music sounds great, but try getting the music onto the Blackberry. Sure, possible, but not so easy. I have owned a Blackberry for years. The Bold is a complete disappointment.

Why buy these $500+ phones new and get stuck with a 2-yr contract when the phone doesn't last even a year?
It's almost like BAIT & SWITCH by AT&T. They stop "carrying" the particular expensive phone in less than a year so when the phone dies in a few months AT&T won't have to exchange it with a new one for you... but they got your contract for 2 years... with a cheaper phone in exchange. Before wasting your money on a new expensive AT&T smartphone, ask yourself if you're ok with having to warranty exchange your new phone with a USED refurbished one in less than a year.

I have a yahoo, gmail, and one or two other email accounts that are regularly accessed. Don't do much with instant messaging.

All Blackberry devices handle all mail (and phone calls and SMS) into a single messagebox- easy to see what's come in and has/hasn't been handled.

Things the Blackberry does that the iPhone doesn't do:

- ability to copy/cut/paste text

- multiple email account centralization

- stereo bluetooth support

- recording videos

- removable storage & swapping batteries

- multiple carriers (ATT, Verizon, TMobile)

If you have a single email account and aren't a 'power email' person the iPhone could work out OK.

Until then it's time to Be Bold :)

I could see the iPhone being preferable if the owner is browsing the web heavily and watching video, photos, and audio.

If touch screens are not important to you, which i pesonally dont see the point, then the bold has everything else one needs. i use it primarily for work purposes with my works blackberry enterprise and it has been a blessing. emails, to do lists, appointments, even comes pre loaded with an office document reader to keep up with excel word and powerpoint files. a nice perk is that it supports wifi and automatically switches to it when a program can use it.
for phone calls themselves the voice quality is great, i love adding short cuts to all the letters on the keyboard which makes for easy fast dialing.

u can have different email addresses, get tons of apps like yahoo messanger caller id etc.

as a music player it also works great, added a 16gb card to it and so it can store alot of things. for video i was amazed at how nice it looks, with the att cellular video feature there is tons of content you can stream and it looks just like it would on a nice tv at home.

for music the speakers on the phone itself are surprisingly loud and clear. for the car i bought an fm transmitter to play music in the car and its on par with my ipod. a nice extra perk i hadnt thought about and found out when i plugged in the fm transmitter is that if you put a call on speaker with the fm transmitter the phone transfers the person you are talking to to your car speakers so its a nice handsfree tool.

only con i can think of is that if u have wifi and bluetooth the battery does drain and you need to charge it at least once a day with normal talking time.

if you are someone interested in web browsing then this phones is not for you because the browser is not good at all other than for simple things like reading news etc, but its no way close to safari. so if your getting this phone for that then go with the iphone if you want a productivity tool that can also do good things with music and streaming video then you cant go wrong with this phone.

This is a great phone, but synchronization with Microsoft Outlook is very slow and cumbersome. It takes me about 30-45 minutes to synchronize my data, versus 60-90 seconds with my Palm Treo. Also, the synchronization line by line match is only about 95% accurate. Several fields just don't match up.

I was extremely dissappointed. After about two weeks the phone locked up on me and everytime I opened it to do anything it would freeze up on me. Note impressed. But overall I did love everything else about the phone. ONLY if it worked right.

My ATT TILT was a great phone... for 8 months... then it shut itself off DEAD on a fully charged battery and never turned back on. ATT wants to send me a REFURBISHED unit they say is a "SHELL" that comes with no battery or the back cover of the unit!!!??? I could've bough a refurbished unit for third of the price of a new one at the first place. Why buy a $550+tax phone from ATT and get stuck with a 2-yr contract if the phone doesn't last even a year and they'll be sending you cheaper refurbished ones soon after your NEW purchase? Refurbished means the phone has already proven to be a lemon once! Sell me a lemon once, shame on you... sell me the same lemon twice, shame on me! Before dropping a load of cash on a new ATT TILT, ask yourself if you'll be ok warranty exchanging it with somebody else's USED lemon in less than a year.

Had original phone 3+ months and it went bad - would not charge. Sent it back under warranty and received a refurbished phone. It lasted 1+ month and screen started locking up. What could have been a great phone is really a piece of expensive junk. AT & T offered to send another refurbished phone but I can't risk it going bad when I am out of town. Best AT & T would do was to sell me a new phone at their lowest price. Have terminated my service (paid fee) with them and gone to Verizon. Will do the same with the rest of my family plan when it expires. If you check the AT & T website, you cannot buy this phone new. I did not see one available in one of the local AT & T stores today either. Have they pitched in the towel on this one since it is so bad?

Anyone that writes a glowing review of the Tilt is either a technocrat or under the pay of HTC. I have had this phone for 6 months and its been nothing but a PIA. Once sent back for a replacement and 2nd time battery just died and waiting for a replacement to see if that will revive it. I doubt it as it is know for the red light of death.

I bought this phone in March 2008 like many other reviewers who wanted a PDA and phone combination. While it looks great and does have a slide out keyboard, this phone has serious issues. I agree with many here, it is slow as Hell. If you needed help or have an emergency, your are out of luck. It takes forever to boot up. Of course, leaving it on drains the battery big time. I had my phone synced to my computer and bought a few apps for it and this slowed it down even further. It got so bad, I had to completely reset the device, wiping out all my info. I stopped syncing it and had to ditch some apps I really liked because the Tilt had issues with them. The Internet looks horrible on this phone, it is slow even with a 3G connection and I don't bother with the Wi-Fi. I won't play music on it. Call quality is also not great. I use a Jabra bluetooth which makes calls sound much better and clearer than the phone itself. The lag time for opening anything is far too long. It takes what seems like an eternity for the Windows Mobile system to open apps up. I had used Motorolas, (hated those), Nokia (loved them) and this was the first HTC phone I have tried. It will be my last. I have an iPod Touch which I love and now want an iPhone. The Touch is easier to use than this. The Tilt is too overpiced for how it (does not) perform. While it has a lot of features, getting to them and using them wastes time that you are supposed to be saving. If I had known then what I know now, I would have never have bought this phone. It only gets 2 stars because of the screen keyboard and Office Mobile apps included. I was extremely disappointed in how this phone operates. If you are thinking of purchasing this phone, DON'T Bother, there are better phones out there.

I am going to revise my review to note a few things about how this phone works. After having tried a new Nokia N96 and its annoying menus and buttons, I actually found myself missing some features of the Tilt. The Tilt will allow you to directly access features by both screen touch and stylus. Connections to the Internet may be slow, but it will use the best option available without bugging you. The Internet does not look as good as it does on an iPod Touch or an iPhone. The buttons on the face do light up and are easy to see quickly and the keyboard is helpful. Navigation is better than I orginally thought. It is not enough to change my rating or suggest purchasing it unless you really want a PDA more than a phone. The Tilt does have strong PDA features, but it does run under the Windows Mobile interface. Apple has it beat with the Touch and the iPhone.

I wanted to give ZERO stars - but was forced to at least give it 1...
I purchased this phone a year ago. I'm on my 4th phone - and it still does not work properly. Screen dies out, phone tunrs itself off when i open it, the keypad works half the time and it doesn't hold a charge. I know 2 other people with the RAZR - they are on their 2nd and 3rd phones as well, with the same problems. This phone was WAY to expensive for all these issues. My service provider will not replace the phone any more. So after all the headache i've been throuh, I asked motorola to replace my phone with a different product. They refused. I have always bought Motorola products - but NEVER AGAIN.

Sound quality is very good, the voice activated commands work very well even for someone with an accent.

Phone has a metal chassis so feels solid, but is heavy. It's fairly large, so the earpiece and microphone are well positioned; but folded the phone isn't as comfortable in a jeans pocket as a smaller model.

Both screens are large and bright. I covered the outer display with a screen protector, so cannot say whether or not the glass scratches easily.

Battery life is okay, but not great.

The dedicated keys for internet access & cellular video are either side of the navigation pad and cannot be disabled or reconfigured; they're easy to accidentally press. This is annoying if you don't have a data plan.

The charging and headphone jack is micro-USB. There was no micro-USB to standard jack adaptor included in the box.

This is a great flip-phone, beautiful bright screen, great call quality.
However, I found out after buying it with a 2year AT+T contract that AT+T disables the SyncML application on the phone so there's no way to sync the phone's calendar with whatever calendar you use. Which makes the calendar pretty worthless and significantly detracts from the phone's usefulness.

Its a lovely phone.
The 8gb micro sdhc card does work, I have one in mine.
The brightness and large screens and sound are good.
All kinds of features included.
I like the option to print pictures. I havent tried it yet, but I like its included!
The paper tab to help instal and uninstall the battery. Keep it flat though or the battery cover will not go back on correctly.
The speaker phone option works good too.

Shipping was superfast AFTER they finally got the phone in stock.
Having a Razr previously with ATT and it was very durable, so hoping this one will be also. The glass is suppose to be chemically enhanced to help strengthen it.

The Bad.
Well I just discovered as with my old V3, I loose reception when entering a building right away, as my friends keep talking away on their phone. I can hear better I cant hear longer. Along with bad talk time and difficult battery door and tightness of the charger connection. Im not satisfied with this purchase.
Depending on when you purchase it, the price keeps changing.
The Paper Thin batter cover is hard to remove and put back on.
The micro usb battery connection is very hard to use, I hope it doesnt dislodge inside the phone. Espcially since the phone needs to be recharged constantly, the battery life is as little as reviews state.

The memory card slot being under the paper thin battery door, that is very hard to remove and reinstall.
Battery life for talk time is not good at all, standby is fine. I have to charge it every other day on average.
The front screen buttons and smart side buttons are difficult to use, but at least you will not connect to the internet without trying to intentionally.
The phone seems heavier than my Razr3, itll take time I guess to get use to it.
I did not enjoy not recieving the 3.5mm headphone adapter and being told to return the phone to try and get it. UPDATE, Amazon is refunding enough to purchase this item, issue resolved after alot of contact with them, but the issue is resolved.
Games, I cannot find any games that you can purchase just yet. Support for this new phone is hard to find also since it is new.
The attitude of email replies from customer service cellphone support. Their just plain rude. I think they are overworked and under trained.

The one thing to point out in purchasing, until you get the Congradulations ATT approved you, you can get emails stating shipping dates etc, and they mean nothing until the congradulations email is recieved. Also, hard as they are to follow, the instructions to activate the phone are totally here on Amazon, dont waste your time going to the ATT office, that is not the correct way to activate this phone, and they havent a clue whats going on. I found this out the hard way. Just use Amazon and read their emails and links.
IN the end, I got a good deal for the price. I now see in another review a feature not working, sync with calender, I wonder if other features are not included. ATT should provide Amazon the proper advertising for the product. I do not feel Amazon is responsible for the problems, ATT is.
I would recommend purchasing a phone from Amazon.com for ATT though as the prince is cheaper.

First of all, I want to point out that this phone does in fact support MicroSDHC cards. I have a 4GB card that the phone recognized immediately. I filled the card up with music and all of it is recognized. I don't have an 8GB card to test but I'm sure it works just as well as my 4GB.

As far as the phone itself, I am exstatic! My previous 2 phones were a V551 and an L6 and both left much to be desired. This phone has crystal clear screens which are bright and vibrant. The form factor is perfect for me, but it still has some weight, which makes it feel very well built. Music player is fantastic, even though ATT doesnt include a 3.5mm adapter. The camera isn't the greatest on the market, but it works well enough for me. Call quality is much improved over my old phone, which means a lot. Overall, an absolutely fantastic phone.

The phone is excellent for mobile web browsing, typing text messages and actually doing real work. The touch screen and scroll wheel aren't just nifty tech toys, they really work well to streamline interactions. The preloaded programs are excellent and the TouchFlo 3D system is like having an iPhone without actually having an iPhone. They took some time to make the animated graphics fun (such as the weather forecast).

What I like about it:
-Full keyboard is easy to use with helpful shortcut keys for WiFi, SMS, and music
-Touch screen is very handy and magnetic stylus is a great second option.
-Phone quality is good, no static or echoes.
-Text messaging includes a history so you can follow the conversation.
-All the great Windows Mobile features are on the phone (calendar, mail, instant messaging with AIM, Yahoo, etc. Excel, Powerpoint, Word are included.
-The camera takes good pictures with lots of editing features and a flashlight for low light pictures.
-The top portion of the home screen allows you to check battery status, data connection settings, programs running, available memory and other useful information quickly (like a task manager in Windows).

Things I don't like:
-The battery will wear out quickly with long internet browsing usage.
-The alarm clock notification isn't as easy to shut off as the old Cingular 3125 (also an HTC phone). In fact most notifications are a little annoying.
-The phone is heavy, but not ridiculously large. It feels solid.
-The touch screen is sometimes less responsive than expected but I believe that is more because the phone is sometimes sluggish in operation.
-The case is shiny and smudges easy. Ditto for the touch screen.

All said, the phone is working great. It's an excellent smart phone with great usability, excellent functionality in a great package.

Beware when you order this phone from amazon.com Because if you dont like it you wont be able to return it after its shipped! I bought this phone and then found it cheaper (FREE after rebate) with another retailer. I called to find out if they price match (nope) I found out that if you phone ships from amazon you can't return it. AT&T has 30 day return policy but that only applies to items ordered from them. READ ALL the fine print before you buy!I will not buy anything from amazon.com in the future because of this phone order!

Why buy these $500+tax phones new and get stuck with a 2-yr contract when the phone doesn't last even a year?
It's almost like BAIT & SWITCH by AT&T. They stop "carrying" the particular expensive phone in less than a year so when the phone dies in a few months AT&T won't have to exchange it with a new one for you... but they got your contract for 2 years... with a cheaper phone in exchange. Before wasting your money on a new expensive AT&T smartphone, ask yourself if you're ok with having to warranty exchange your new phone with a USED refurbished one in less than a year.

I bought this phone but returned it, its a horrible mix of a phone. Half the time its touch screen (not captive touchscreen like the iphone) you have to press hard and it lags , half the time its opening up the wrong thing or calling the wrong person, the phone screen is tiny, and you have to press hard

It comes with a stylus, windows mobile is terrible for this phone , half the time you can touch the screen the other half you need the stylus.

Worst of all is web browsing , the wifi has to be put on max to keep from losing connection, even only a few feet away. Browsing is terrible you can't touch the screen to click in text fields, half the time the stylus touches aren't recognized. Its horrible!

The g1 interface is far better, even if android were on the phone it still wouldn't be a good phone

This phone has two MAJOR design flaws that are causing me to return it today.

1. The first flaw is that all calls from landline phones go straight to my voicemail. I spent over an hour on the phone with customer service trying to figure this out to no avail. Towards the end of the call I swapped my SIM (I was calling them from a landline) from the HTC Fuze to a LG vu that a buddy at work has. After doing that all calls from landlines came through. VERY strange.

2. The second major design flaw, and the ultimate deal breaker, is the screen locking feature. The screen lock works perfectly, UNTIL you receive a call. Then the screen unlocks so that you can click on answer or ignore. So when the phone is in the holster or my pocket, it automatically answers or ignores the call 9 out of 10 times. I missed so many calls before figuring out what was going on. Also, even though the screen is locked the volume buttons still work. That led me to accidentally muting my phone several times while placing the phone into the holster. It's not a very large phone (it is thick though) so there is not much free real estate, which easily leads to your finger hitting the volume down button.

I have looked all over the internet, but I have not found anybody who is having the same problems as me. The first problem could be linked to just my phone. However, the second problem is a design flaw that all phones would have.

Excluding those two flaws, THE PHONE IS AWESOME!! However, it is a phone first and a PDA second. That said, as a phone it only gets one star. What good is a phone that you have to carry in order to make sure that you don't miss any calls????

This is my first Blackberry, I was so excited to start the New Year, organizing all my business contacts, calendar etc., into one unit. Well, that is not going to happen with the Storm keyboard unless I have lots of time to type and re-type when it chooses the wrong letter, under my finger. As you can tell I am not a techie, but was hoping to get up to speed, I guess I need to go back and start all over with the Curve. I know from all my colleagues that it is practical and works.

Note that anyone looking to buy this phone should consider two things.

1) Most early reviews were based off of a pseudo-beta initial release of the phone software (v65). The phone has since been updated and works exceptionally well. Look for reviews AFTER 12/15/2008.

2) This phone is a powerful productivity tool, NOT a toy. For users wanting an entertainment device with plenty of games, buy the iPhone. For users wanting an unmatched phone, email client, contact/task database, all rolled into a high-res screen with sufficient multimedia ability, buy the Storm. Many reviewers are blaming the phone for their own inability. Yes, it might seem complicated at first but it gets the job done unlike any other phone. If you want a simple toy/ipod, again, look elsewhere.

Also, the iPhone vs Storm comparisons are getting way out of hand (see first review: Grant). These two phones are completely different with one exception, the touchscreen. 5stars - "Smartphone for smart people..." (M. Dawson)

PROS: I had been with T-Mobile for over 10 years and in spite of ATT and Verizon having better phones I remained a loyal T-Mobile customer until the STORM!!!

CONS: I early termed my contract with T-Moble and purchased what I though was the MUST HAVE Storm. I was a little concerned after the first day but, by the 3rd day I was utterly frustrated with too many issues with the phone. The accelerometer frequenly would get hung up. I would turn the phone and have to wait a second for the screen to adjust to the new position. The lag time was crazy. I actually liked the touch screen concept but even with the blue guiding light you can not tell what damn letter you are touching. If you send a lot of e-mails or other text well, take a deep breath and try not to throw your phone against the wall. And the keyboard -- has a mind of it's own. Appearing out of nowhere, there is no shortcut key to "hide keyboard". Also when I put the phone to my ear, I would either end up hitting the mute key or the speaker key. The Iphone has sensitivity built in which hinders this when the phone is put to your ear, the Storm does not.

CONS: I was not impressed with the browser which lagged and some pages would never open. I aslo wish there was an App Store. The camera takes forever but that is not a major issue for me. The lack of WiFi was a major mistake. Scrolling through items on the screen is not smooth or fluid as the iphone as there seems to be a bit of a stagger/studder. Navigating between menus is not a smooth process long and in some cases progams freezed.

PROS: Now the screen display is amazing and puts a real hurting on the iphone. The Storm has so many features. I loved and purchased the Ringback tones--this feature allows you to assign music to individuals so that is what they hear when they call you. The Voice GPS was perfect very time. The sound is in stereo and I was amazed at the qaulity.

CONS: The problem for me is that the features about the Storm that I like are already found in my digital camera, my iTouch, my Ipod and my Garmin. What I desired most in a phone the STORM lacks. Had RIM waited longer to fine tune the Storm, they would have really put the iPhone in check. Now that being said, I left my 10 year relationship with T-mobile and purchased my Storm on 12/24 and by 12/31, seven days later, I returned to Verizon and cancelled my contract (well within the 30 day period).

If I was going to stay with a touch screen I felt I might as well go with who has the best at this time so, on 12/31 I joined ATT and am the happy owner of an Iphone -- Pretty close to perfection. There is no Storm...not yet...just a mild rain. I am still shaking my head because I really was expecting so much more.

I thought it would be cool to get the latest gadget, but I really regret it. I've been struggling with it for nearly a month. I've always disliked my Blackberrys, but this one I find virtually useless for business purposes. I'm not much of a techie and find it frustrating that the tricks to using Blackberrys successfully require tapping into techie folklore rather than a users guide.

Positives:
- Beautiful screen
- Separate menu for email vs. SMS (yay - finally!)
- Great for viewing emails, presentations, speadsheets, etc.
- Seamless operation with my Rhapsody music subscription account
- Camera with a flash

Negatives:
- Anything that involves typing - so simple things like unlocking the screen, calling someone, sending a text message and sending an email are very frustrating and time-consuming events that I now avoid. Sadly, these functions are why I have the phone. Typing on the QWERTY screen works best, but errors are continuous and time-consuming.
- Two hands are required to operate phone at all times
- Operations are mysteriously slow at time. Sometimes I can't answer calls. Sometimes the keyboard orientation won't change.
- Access to contacts is difficult and time consuming. Scrolling was much easier.
- Use almost requires a Bluetooth headset. If you smile or bump the screen with your face while talking on the handset, you will turn on the "mute" or "speakerphone" setting. Very irritating.
- General handling of the phone. The phone screen cannot touch anything or it will "click", activating a function.
- I haven't found the webbrowser to be very useful either. This is probably something for me to work on.

If I didn't need email access, I would be ecstatic if I could return to a regular cell phone and texting. But, if one must have a Blackberry, I would recommend the World Edition or Bold over the Storm for certain.

2stars - "Fun, but horrible for business use" (Unhappy Storm User)

RIM was way too hasty in getting this phone to market. It is extremely slow at opening all applications, even compared with three year old models of Blackberry Phones. Lots of glitches with the keyboards, the accelerometer, and applications crashing. The phone would often drop calls and loose reception just as you are trying to load a page or reply to a text.

But by far the worst part of this phone is the screen, which makes quick typing w/ any accuracy impossible. the fact that you need to click the screen down for each letter means you cannot begin pressing the next letter until you have allowed the screen to move fully into the up position. so if you like to type quickly this will really bug you. The blue haze which is supposed to let you know whhich letter you are on is completely useless and often misleading since it lags your finger position. The software on the iphone which shows the letter above your finger on the screen as you touch would be a nice addition to this phone.

Overall VERY Disappointed, RIM needs to rethink this one Returned the phone after 4 days.

I have a BB from my work; and needed to buy one for my wife. We chose the 8310. We like it very much. It has GPS, so we downloaded google maps and now use the GPS functionality whenever we are on road. We are looking for a BB holder for car now!! My wife was able to sync her workplace email without any problems. We also downloaded the yahoo for BB. I would like to set up two different alarm times at the same time...which we are not able to do now.

I have had three BBs now and will still buy them - if - they can begin making a more durable case. As one other reviewer noted, the red case for the phone (I don't know about the others) began to crack without much usage or abusage. Now, after six months, I have potholes in my phone. I am sure there is a more durable material that can be used for this. I'm rather disgusted with this one issue.

The only problem so far is the crappy casing. Don't drop it, don't scoot it, don't fasten your seatbelt over it and don't let it ride in your car on anything but a pillow.

Otherwise, the functionality is good old Blackberry and it works perfectly for me. Also, I don't seem to have issues with AT&T like others on this site - ???

I just got this phone as a replacement for my Curve 8300. Boy, was I impressed. It runs fast, keeps up with my typing & you can do most anything on this phone. Email set up is a breeze & I love using the custom ringtones for people in my address book. You can easily create your own wallpaper & songs for it and upload without confusion.

The downsides are: No video and I DETEST that the memory card is behind the battery, making it take forever to power down and access. Beware, this phone takes awhile to boot up, but once it gets going, it's fantastic.

I've read that the USB connections go bad on these phones and when my Blackberry Curve 8300 stopped charging, I believed it. But I loved it so much, I bought another. I checked out the new Bold but was unimpressed by it's bulky size and the flat keyboard (makes it hard to type) - this phone is MUCH better!

Before I bought this phone I shopped around a lot, read reviews etc. I was going from a Motorola Razor to this, and before I got this phone I had no problems with my Razor. Ever since I got the Curve, my reception has been really horrible. My calls don't really drop, but many times in each conversation I have moments where the person sounds really garbled and I have to ask them to repeat themselves. I hadn't read anything about this in any reviews, but since I got it a few months ago I have been talking to some friends who just got theirs and they are complaining of the same thing. I have AT&T service, though I hadn't had this problem before the phone switch. I just wanted to warn people, since I hadn't seen an alert about this before. If you're just having conversations with friends it's something you can get used to, but if you are using it for business it might be a major hassle!

This is my first blackberry and first smartphone. I simply love this phone. I can do anything I want on it, it is very loud compared to my old phone and I get my email whenever I need it.

I have added apps to do everything including rss feeds, facebook, and accessing my twitter account. I have added my own ringtones just by emailing them to the phone and they worked wonderfully.

The only cons are that the case grabs fingerprints like crazy.

If you have never used a BB before just go to crackberry.com and learn everything there is to learn.

This phone is good. There are plenty of features and the voice quality isn't bad. The form factor is a little annoying if you carry this around in your pocket. My major complaint with this is that the device sometimes (1-2 times per month) refuses to make phone calls and I have to remove the battery to reboot. The calendar and contacts are easy to use, I find the task list a little cumbersome. Overall I don't regret getting the curve but I probably won't be getting another one when this one dies.

My last phone was a Motorola Razor and I really wanted a change. I have always admired the Blackberry and the status that was wrapped-up with it. This is my first PDA and I love it. I have a very busy schedule and I am on the go a lot so I decided that getting a PDA, specifically a Blackberry, would be a big help in keeping my life organized. The following are the specific functions that I love about the Blackberry Curve 8310.
Text Message: I enjoy the text messaging options. By the end of the day I have a long list of texts from so many different people that it's hard to keep track of each conversation or go back to a certain message without having to scroll all the way down and look for it. Although, if you really want to find a specific text message, there is a great search option available.
Placing Calls: While you are driving, it is difficult to place a call although; the speed dial makes things easier.
Calling, Sound Quality, Speakerphone: All awesome, reception is great, call volume is nice and loud and speakerphone is the best I've experienced from a cell phone yet
Keyboard: I was nervous about switching from a keyboard with multiple letters to a full one, but once I got the hang of it I fell in love. I never want to go back to a phone that doesn't have a full keyboard. It is probably one of my favorite things about this phone!
Camera: The camera is great. The clarity or pictures is amazing and there is a flash. It also has a great way to store the pictures on your memory card.
Calendar: Probably my biggest pet peeves with the Curve. Setting appointments, reminders and navigating through the calendar is easy but it is limited in its reminder capabilities.
Email: Email is one of the best features of the Blackberry Curve. Emails arrive as they are sent, which is great! Emailing is not however something I use a lot, but someone who does will love this phone. With AT&T the internet package is $30 a month and that may be a drawback for some people.
Battery: The battery is a big concern for me since this is the only phone I use at school. The battery life is pretty good. I charge it about every two to three days. When it needs to be charged, it doesn't take long to completely recharge it.

First, let me say that I am a neophyte when it comes to technology. I used to be very technology savvy. Now I am one of the people who I used to talk badly about. I can generally figure things out, but I am not a geek by any stretch of the imagination. That being said, this is a GREAT phone and I think anyone else who is in my class of users will love it too. Let me list the things I love about it:

Size: The phone is the perfect size. It fits easily in your pocket (guys) - even with the protective sleeve. You don't have to look like one of those geeky people with the pocket protector. It has a smooth feel that just feels comfortable in the palm of your hand.

Phone quality: The phone quality is great! I have a slight hearing impairment, so it is important for the phone volume to be loud enough for me to actually hear - especially in noisy surroundings. This phone passes the test with flying colors. I usually only have the phone at 3/4 volume. I have never been able to do that with any other cell phone. The speaker phone also is the best quality I have seen.

GPS - This is a great feature. I thought I would not use it since you have to pay extra for telenav. I already wasn't happy about paying $30 extra for unlimited data, so I definitely wasn't going to pay for the gps. Then I read here that you can download google mobile maps for free. DO IT!!! I know my own city pretty well, so it is only a novelty right now, but it will definitely come in handy when I travel. All you have to do is put in the location of where you want to go, then have the phone track your own location. You can literally watch yourself moving toward your destination - regardless of whether you have asked it to map your route or not. Have you ever been in the vicinity of a destination, but not been able to figure out where it is at exactly (or not sure which way to turn)? Never again.

Voice Dialing - With a blue tooth headset, you can just push a button on your headset and give a verbal command (i.e. "call john," or "dial 555-555). It will ask you which # (mobile, work, home, etc.). Once you respond, it will dial automoatically.

Battery Life: This is one of the reasons I chose the curve over the iPhone. The batterylife is great. I generally charge my phone everyday, but I also use it quite a bit too. I have only had it go down to 50% once, and that was when I left the GPS in tracking mode for several hours. You can change the battery yourself, as opposed to having to have someone else do it for you.

e-mail: Right now, I have only my personal account set-up on the phone, but you can have up to ten e-mail accounts on it at one time. I get e-mails automatically. I can also delete e-mails from both my handheld and from my account with just the push of a button. I wish it would let me delete ultiple e-mails at one time. Better yet, let me get rid of some of that spam all together, but that is a different story.

Camera - I am pleasantly surprised by the quality of the pictures. It has a built in flash and takes awesome pictures. Also, by putting a microSD card in the phone, you can literally store all your pictures on your blackberry. I was able to get a 4gb card, which I am told that some phones do not support.

Keyboard - This is another reason I chose the Curve over the iPhone. You geet a full qwerty keyboard. I have somewhat large fingers, but am able to manipulate the keys fairly easily. It helps if I use my fingernails rather than the pads of my fingers/thumbs.

Music - Like the camera, you can put quite a bit of music on your Curve if you use a microSD card. The sound is great.

Protective Sleeve: A protective sleeve comes with the Curve. When you put the phone in the sleeve, it automatically goes into power save mode - not to mention the fact that it protects your screen from unnecessary scratches. Someone said you can actually change the screen, but I haven't figured out how yet.

Password keeper - No more keeping that password list under your keyboard. You can put all of your passwords into the Blackberry (and can even mask them from prying eyes - although it appears to only keep honest people away from them. Its not that hard to unmask). The nice thing is that your passwords are password protected, so theoretically, they're safe.

Attachments - You can open Microsoft Office files, as well as .pdf's. I understand you can also open up .wmv files, although I haven't done it yet.

There are just a couple things I do not care for:

Manuverability - I still find myself pressing a lot of different buttons to get to the screen I want - especially as I switch back and forth between the "full menu" and the "express menu" (I'm not sure what you really call them. Maybe it will just take me getting used to some of the buttons. Even getting to my address book can be a challenge sometimes.

Internet - This is an area where I think the iPhone might be better. The internet capability is a bit slow, and you don't always get the full content of page like you would on a pc. On the fly, it is good to have though.

All in all, this was a great purchase. I wondered if I would regret getting this phone over the iPhone. So far, I haven't. I highly recommend it.

The Blackberry Curve from AT&T is the best phone I have owned. To start, it is a nice looking phone. Honestly, it just looks cool. My last phone was a flip phone and I was nervous about having the screen to my cell phone so exposed (I am known to throw my phones right into my cluttered bag). However, the case I received upon purchasing my Blackberry has solved that problem. No scratches or dings to my phone...yet. The large screen is great, as well. I have come to really like just pushing a button to answer a call instead of flipping my phone open. Trivial, I know, but important to how much you like your phone.

I'm on my cell constantly; I text all the time. This was crucial in my decision to get a BlackBerry instead of the iPhone. I like being able to text quickly with both thumbs. The full keyboard makes texting/e-mailing super-quick. The Curve allows e-mails to be erased from handheld and mailbox, which is great for all the junk e-mails received. You never have to see them in your e-mail inbox. It helps keep me organized. . BlackBerry Messenger is great, as well. It is kind of like a chat/instant messenger feature that lets you talk to other BlackBerry users quickly. I'm addicted to it.

I have never owned a BlackBerry, so it was great to be able to create links to my favorite websites and put them on my menu screen. Google, Weather Channel, CNN, Fox News, MapQuest and Facebook are all now easily accessible for me from wherever I am.

The camera is great as well. It produces clear pictures and even has a flash, which is fantastic. There is a tiny mirror on the back, so you can take pictures of yourself. There is no video recording option, which is a bit of a negative aspect to the phone. The BlackBerry has been a great phone for me and my lifestyle. As a college student getting ready to enter the professional world it has been extremely useful to me. I love it. Highly recommended.

Not too bad of a phone, Sony has quit including any cables, headphones or or accessory memory cards (nothing at all) Glad I still had all mine (in good working order from my Sony W810).
The phone operation is pretty easy, nothing too hard to figure out. Accessory memory card placement is in kind of a bad spot right on the top of the phone, so if your phone slides in a case, it can come open, and the card 'WILL' pop out. But, just slide in the case top down. (Gonna get me one of those rubberized form fitting cases real soon, should prevent this from happening at all) A few too many applications and useless games that are only trial. Recommend wiping the out of box apps, and settings, and starting clean (plenty of how to's just Google it)

I bought this phone for two main reasons:

I wanted a slider so that I could answer/hang-up by opening and closing the phone ONLY - unfortunately there is no way to disable the keypad for call answering/rejecting (or if there is I haven't found it) so when removing the phone from a belt pouch I hang up on about 50% of my inbound calls even when the keypad is 'locked' - stupid design for a slider in my opinion.

I thought having FM radio would be good to have (for situations like getting stuck shopping in a mall with my wife); problem is that the FM radio ONLY works if you have a WIRED headset (not included). WTF do I want a hard-wired headset for on a Bluetooth phone?

Other complaints:
- no standard headphone jack so you either have to use a bulky adapter or use Sony headphones specifically designed for their bulky proprietary jack (which can't be used while charging the phone).

- AT&T fills the menu up with crap that you can't get rid of without de-branding the phone.

- AT&T won't allow a full-length mp3 to be used as a ringtone - only about 275k is allowed (which isn't documented anywhere). De-branding the phone solves that problem.

All that being said, the sound quality is good, the speaker is decent, reception is good, and the phone has some good features. The camera is okay but not great for a 3MP sensor and takes too long (~5 seconds) to 'warm up'.

Needed Accessories:
- Sony's relatively expensive Memory Stick Micro (instead of the cheaper, more standard micro SD)
- A headphone adapter if you want to use normal headphones and/or the FM radio.

I've owned several Motorola phones in the past and was hesitant to switch to a Sony Ericsson. Since I was going to be stuck with `this' phone for the next 2-years, I spent a good amount of time researching several phones (LG, Motorola, SE, Iphone, and Samsung) and found this one was prefect. CNET gives it a very high rating!! (BTW-I would have loved to get the IPhone but I didn't want to pay the extra monthly service charges the phone requires and as a `phone' it is quite large to carry around.)

I wanted a Slide Phone but not one that was too bulky & thick and also one that had a key-pad that would (1) last and (2) had numbers that were not too small. Surprisingly CNET reviewed several phones that did not meet those simple criteria.

While I waited for my phone to be delivered, I saw the previous reviews. I became very concerned about the choice I had made. Well, I have had this phone for 2 weeks and have not seen any of the problems the other reviewers listed. I bought a 4G M2 card and have loaded a good amount of music and images. The great thing is, the computer software is free on SE's site, where Motorola made you pay for theirs.

So, to say the least, I love this phone. I LOVE the walkman 'SensMe' feature, the fact you can shake the phone to shuffle or go to the next song, and you can lift or lower the phone to change the volume... Not to mention, for the size you get a great camera and AAC/MP3 player all in one! It's prefect! Also, if I want to add web-access, I can add it later but I am not committed to an additional monthly service plan like I would have been with the I-Phone. Honestly, the list of what I love goes on.

Also, I did send SE an e-mail suggesting they read the reviews on Amazon's site. SE also provides software upgrades for their phones so if there is an issue, hopefully they would fix it. I have received an e-mail back informing me they have not had those issues reported as of yet but would look into them.

I HIGHLY recommend this phone! And it easily deserves the 5-stars I have given it!!!
